So wait then what was the point in trading for him if the plan was to let him go straight to UFA. Should have just kept the cheaper Haula as yes Zacha is younger but Haula was cheaper and fit the Bruins current mold

I get arb and all that benefited Zacha but still this seems pretty bad. Especially when 3.1 x 3yrs should have been fair

They must think one of these two: A) that Zacha will outproduce Haula enough to make it worth signing him for more, or B) that they'll be able to re-sign Zacha next offseason.

I know just thought maybe it was a very nuanced knock at the Yotes as well.

True as in any rate we probs see Bergeron and Krejci retire after this season and if he decides to stay Zacha could get a top 6 role. This could end up benefitting them or really hurting them as to me once those 2 retire I think a rebuild might be in order

Well, as long as Bergeron plays 10+ games, he gets $2.5 million in performance bonuses, so (barring catastrophe for the Bruins) Bergeron will be making more even if his cap hit for this season is lower (but Krejci won't)

And I don’t think it’s that outlandish to not give more than 1m cap hit to a return guy player took a gap year in Europe, even if Krejci performs like a 2C this year.
Besides, his contract seems heavily laden with incentives as well.
