Any of Jeannot, Granlund, or Carrier 1 for 1 for Murphy is an overpay.

Sabres literally have two first overall picks at left d, plus Samuelsson. No disrespect to ekholm, the Sabres just aren't dangling Quinn for help at a position where they don't need help.

Laine and Scheifele on a team together is a recipe for disaster. Good thread title.

I mean, there may be something to that CBJ trade. We'd have to be pretty confident in our ability to replace Laine internally with Johnson, Marchenko, or some other high-end T6 winger...

But yeah, don't see it happening in light of what we had to go through just to get Laine signed. Plus, he's probably gonna go score a billion goals playing on the other side of Gaudreau, anyway.

You’d be adding an ass load more to Askarov than a 3rd to even get COL to listen on Byram. You’re talking about a 21yr old dman that led the cup playoffs in 5v5 TOI and led the playoffs in +/- (regardless of how you feel about the stat). Askarov hasn’t even played a game in North America and being honest you could add 2 1st rd picks and COL still isn’t doing. Byram is a beast, Askarov is an unproven goalie. Hard hard pass.

This seems to lack a little overall cohesion. Its half young players and half win now players.

Like I don't get going for futures like Quinn but also win now players like MS. I'd probably pick a plan and go all in with it

Askarov is one of the top 3 goalie prospects in the world. That said goalies are so random that their value is substantially less than a proven young Dman with actual top pair potential.

Considering the theme of the thread its not too big of a deal because its not too serious but some things could be shifted around to make more sense.

Oh I know and I hope nobody thinks I was violently talking this down I was just expressing a realistic opinion about a goalie prospect vs a young d guy that just played insane level in the cup playoffs. 100% agree goalie values are voodoo
