If he's traded at this deadline, I think he'll get a little more than the standard 1st and good prospect that he would get as a pure rental. How much more will depend on the pick and project involved.

Why would anyone give up a promising young roster player or a highly-touted prospect (let alone both) for him without the certainty that he sticks around? You tried to liken it to UFA rentals but ufa rentals include futures as the main pieces, the roster players are either on expiring deals, dead cap, or in other words expendable players. Here you are suggesting teams give up what they would give for a player with team control while assuming that Dubois is going to be a rental. Mind you that Dubois, has potential but he hasn't shown that he commands all this. If he were to be traded again at the deadline, he's likely netting something far less than the first time. He won't be commanding 4 pieces like Eichel unless he has a break out season.

I would argue Newhook is more necessary to the Avs than Girard. The two issue I can see are 1) they most likely wont be able to afford PLD after this year and 2) his character showed in Columbus, Avs cant rely on a quitter and shouldn't move cost controlled assets for one.

He is a rental to every team except the Habs, so they will only get rental value for him unless they trade with the Habs.

They r better off doing nothing for now. If Bailey is the biggest issue in NY then the isles r gonna be fine in the long run.

Bailey way to overhated. Yea he was bad last season but that is on Barry for putting him in the top 6 every night. I don't think Lou should be banished from the team but he should just remain the President. And next off season we should have enough cap space for a Barzal extension 8x8. And trading Bailey and Pageau to make room for Pasta or Kane

Kane is way too ****ing old for the isles to target him. I get that he’s fantastic, but isles can’t add another old man to the roster lol.

Secondly the thing with Bailey is that his metrics are ****ty, but he’s a pass first winger on a team that can’t score. And he had Covid last year. And the isles had GREENE AND CHARA on the blue line! Those two cost the isles at least half a dozen games last year. Bottom line is this. Lou should just see how this team looks with an improved d. They aren’t in a position to make a big move if they don’t look good anyway. Cause no matter what they do most of the supporting cast from last year is staying put anyway. One forward won’t change that.

I’ve been on the fire Lou trade since the Hickey and Komarov deals were signed. He’s somehow drafted well the past few years tho. And tbh I’m kind of glad he’s done nothing. I don’t trust him to do much anyway. Let the kids develop. Draft well. And things usually turn out okay on their own. Less is more lmao.
