Oleksiak and Miller

Created by: TMLBRIAN
Team: 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 26, 2022
Published: Aug. 26, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Leafs rotate through the 8 dmen. Injuries always happen. This gives them 8 really solid D.

They add a tough power forward in Miller extended 7x7. Size and toughness in Oleksiak and Schenn.

They give a few of their prospect a shot lower down on the lineup.

This is not probably but these are the types of moves that I think would really help the Leafs. They are missing size and toughness, this solves that, while still maintaining their speed and their skill.

Thoughts?

Toronto declines the 1st one. They won’t get some of those drafted players until like 4 or 5 years. And then getting a left d is not the greatest idea even if he can play the right. And then losing Nylander from that is not worth it. Nylander to Seattle to should include Larsson and maybe Schwartz or Gourde retained

I didn't mention either player by name. You can't just make up rules as you go :P

Willy is fantastic. Very good player. He took a few shifts off in the playoffs though (at important times) and that made him expendable in my mind, IF we can upgrade the roster. This team is better in my mind then what we have now. No hate on Willy. I would be very happy to keep him and more than likely we will.

Interesting that Miller can be extended to 7m next season when the Leafs have no cap, that 4.5m increase just for that one player.
Seattle isn't making that trade for two years of Nylander.
Still too much for the Leafs give up for Miller and Schenn (but that's my opinion) and really basing a traded on player extending is really iffy. Miller has traditionally been a 70 point player and to extend him for seven years at age 30.....that's more than questionable.
Steeves didn't play centre as a Marlie, no reason to think he's a NHL centre now.

You’re getting a great prospect in Niemela, another strong prospect in Robertson, a first, Kerfoot who you can try at 3C and might stay here at a cheap price, and a defensive D man that might be able to play with Hughes but most likely just plays shutdown for Rathbone. I can’t imagine you get better offers

I agree with you and Miller has been 70 point player throughout his career. No reason to think he going to a 100 point player this season or in the future

Miller most likely wants 8.5 or higher. He's not signing for the number Kadri got

I understand what you're getting at, but I personally don't see how miller would be a better option at 7x7, great player yes, but imo willy's been the best playoff performer for the leaf's for at least the last couple of years. I think the leaf's would be making a fairly big mistake trading him off and replacing him with miller, that's just my opinion, I'm no leaf expert either so don't tear me apart here lmao

Based on his career so far, what makes him more valuable than Kadri? Would love to hear your opinion on this.

He replaces Nylanders cap hit and Muzzin NTC gets lifted. So they can always unload his cap to make things work.

If Miller was willing to sign a 7x7, he would be locked up by the Canucks already

His best season is better than Kadri, his second best season is better than Kadri's second best season, his third best season is better than Kadri's third best season. Need I go on? he is also younger.

????? In 23/24, you've stuck the Leafs with 4.5 more cap just for one Miller. Don't know who they can offload for cap purposes, and other players Bunting for example will deserving of a raise.
Getting rid of N MTC Muzzin isn't easy as he can list good team (who have cap) on his trade list. Gee, want the Leafs to get into Monahan situation by trading a first to get rid of Monahan.

Miller isn't signing for 7 x 7 Try more like 7 x 8.5. And he wants to play in the States. Speculation is that he wants to sign with Pittsburgh.

over the past 3 years Kadri has averaged 0.83 PPG while Miller has averaged 1.04 PPG, Miller has consistently played on the PK while Kadri hasn't, Miller's best season is better than Kadri, Miller can play C and W, Miller is better at faceoffs and Miller is younger

Bro, Oleksiak is a mistake waiting to happen. Yeah, he's big and can skate well, but his hands are made of ground beef and concrete, and any decent passing sequence will bamboozle his poor brain.
