Rebuilding around petey Hughes demko podkozin hoglander

Created by: RC333
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 24, 2022
Published: Oct. 24, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If I were in charge I'd be sending out a message to the fans saying we're going to go into a hard-core rebuild and sell assets that have tons of value right now. Only players safe are pettersson hughes demko podkolzin hoglander.

I'd be looking for 1st round picks for our forwards as they are capable top 6 players and can boost a bubble team or playoff team.

If canucks can snag a top 3 pick this year their future will look much better.

Also, I'd be aggressive with the European and college free agents at the end of the year. I'd look for livingstone and Jandrick. Both are defenceman from BC who are killing it in college.

My goal would be to draft BPA but also try to build the defense through the draft. This year's draft is as deep as 2015, so if the Canucks draft well perhaps they can right the ship in 4-5 years.

Horvat boeser Miller garland are all worth first round picks. Each first can accelerate this teams rebuild because of how stacked this draft year is

There is no way in hell that Allvin is retaining on J. T. Miller for the next 8 years or so. Not even up for debate.

Columbus isn't moving that 2023 pick for pretty much anything. They're still a bottom-ten team, and they're not a Horvat away from being better.

Ottawa already has a 4.5m 7th D-Man sitting in the press box, they aren't spending a draft pick to acquire a 6m D-Man to keep him company. Not to mention that they can't afford his cap hit next season, even if they did want him.

If all of these guys are capable top-6 forwards that could help a playoff team why are the Canucks in this spot to begin with? Better wingers than Garland and Boeser especially were moved for a lot less this offseason. Expecting a 1st+ for every single one of these guys is not at all realistic.

You can't retain it for one year, Only on the life of the contract. if Miller hadn't extended then yes it would be for this year only. but since he signed for another 7 years it's the life of the contract.

Scroll a bit further and then you will see our defense core. That is the reason we are winless

Especially when you are having a fire sale rebuild.

Its more complicated than that. Giving up the most rush chances in the NHL is a system flaw and your forwards don't seem to care about defending

Again, its still mostly on the defense. It is true however that it doesn't look like anybody is caring too much.

Salary retention doesn't apply to the players next contract extension

This is the last year of Millers last contract, his new contract doesn't kick in until next season so yes Vancouver could retain for just one season.

Take Zaitsev back, retain 1.5 AAV on Myers and Ottawa is interested. If not, don't even think about it.

Not sure what is complicated here and why this Myers to Ottawa is still proposed. It's like people don't even consider reality in the slighest
