Montreal is not trading Jake Allan, he was just extended. Also you can only retain on 3 contracts at any one time.

Monahan and drouin getting that kind of return is a little crazy.

a healthy Monahan can get that return - Drouin would have to explode to do so.

A healthy monahan has sucked the last two years. Think a 3rd. With retention.

I don't agree with you... Healthy Monahan the way he played so far would fetch a late 1st or a very high 2nd... not only a 3rd like you state.
Drouin, with 50% retain might get a 3 rd if we are very lucky and play better than he did the past few years.
Dodonov ? Allen trade are simply NO SENSE

“I don’t agree with you, now let me completely change the talking point.”

Last. Two. Years. I don’t really care about five games to start the season. Happens all the time. You think NHL GMs are just going to forget the last two years? Maybe if he keeps this up until the deadline, someone takes a chance, and throws a 2nd+.

Healthy enough to play. He just sucked.

the guy was clearly not at 100% - anyway - I imagine this post assumes that Monahan maintains this pace and quality of play until TD. If he does - he would get that kind of return... but again - it's too early to tell after 5 games.

A healthy Monahan is a .6 ppg 25 goal scorer. He's only 28 and is bouncing back after being unable to sleep due to so much pain in prior years. $3M in cap retention is worth like a 3rd alone.

Keeping up that pace is so outlandishly unrealistic i don’t think it’s even worth considering.

Who is 100% during an NHL season. Can’t blame injuries forever.

Well then, he must have been real banged up the last three seasons, because he hasn’t touched that.
He was healthy enough to play. 8 goals, and 10 goals in the last two seasons, respectively. Healthy scratch, and healthy scratch in the playoffs.

He sucked.

How do you explain going from 82 pts to 48 pts in one season?

He suddently stopped playing like he did the year before... just because he sucks?

bad coaching, bad management, 6M cap space, player's will - limited minutes on the fourth line.

Plenty of factor - maybe still better at 80% than the available replacement.

So the flames are just completely incompetent in your eyes?
It took a first round pick to move him, so it sort of sounds like you’re saying all GMs are stupid and you know better.

Columbus has 3 NHL goaltenders already; they aren't going to be in the market for another unless multiple big injuries happen.

CBJ say no, though I officially prefer "Team and Compensation Subject to Change" to "Any team."
