Theres a trade on the horizon I Feel it in my loins my LEAF LOINS

Created by: RowdyRoddy96
Team: 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 25, 2022
Published: Oct. 25, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Smaller trades for now. Engvall and Holl seem to be odd men out. Chicago is in a tank meanwhile the Leafs now need to get better defensively. I called Connor Murphy a couple of seasons ago being traded to Toronto seems like the Josh Manson type of player yes he has faced multiple back issues in the past kinda like Muzzin but as for the last shot and for Dubas job Murphy is an immediate improvement especially on the right side and Chicago would be willing to take on to expiring contracts in order to retain future cap space for a massive spending splurge or for a Patrick Kane / Toews retention down the road ? The Schenn trade helps bolster the Leafs defensive depth that gets a massive physical boost that the Leafs lack back there and it was already made evident that they don't have big guys who can stop or step in when players like Jamie Benn assault your stars with cross checks to the back

Absolutely nothing in it for the Canucks. Nothing for the Hawks either....assuming Murphy is worth his contract

Ok, here's an exercise for you:

Please explain in which universe that trade makes any sense for Chicago?

Kyle Davidson laugh and blocks Kyle Dubas number

Engval = 3rd round pick
Holl = 5th round pick
and 2023 3rd round pick, Come on that's nowhere near Connor Murphy's value.,

Chicago are already going through a rebuild. Engvall and Holl are just 1 yr left players that can fill in the gaps in their roster and keep Chicago cap compliant. Connor Murphy is young enough that he still has alot of facevalue as a player and he is not sticking around for a rebuild that might last about the length of the contract that he just signed. He is at a cap hit and term that most teams can manage even at a bargain what most teams would see but his previous injuries are where his value is marred. If he is healthy he is easily a Top 4 Caliber Defenseman who is responsible back checking in his own zone and moves bodies in front of the net and protects the goalie when injured he is just another LTIR cap casualty. Murphy won't fetch alot but even without a fair trade gauge he is easily worth at least two roster players and a mid to high pick at best and it's a price that I believe the Leafs will pay for a better backline.

They might honestly? they are steps away from rebuild territory if the right team comes knocking with an offer they will take it. As I learned in hockey, No one and I MEAN NO ONE is Untouchable!

Chicago would ask for a good prospect or a high pick, and you offered neither. Engvall and Holl are worthless to them, why would Chicago give Murphy away for free?

no way for a guy worth 850k to be worth a 2nd who is not an everyday defenceman more like a 6/7 guy is not worth that if that's the case then a guy like Holl is worth a high 1st rounder

Not that atrocious, 2 pending UFAs doesn't get you a player with 4 years left on his contract. Murphy should get a good roster player or prospect and a 1st and 2nd round pick.

Let's try again then?

Do you honestly think that would be the winning bid on Murphy? The answer would be no it wouldn't be. No way the Hawks accept that. Add Knies and they might possibly consider but Niemela doesn't cut it.

)
If Chychurn's ask is a 1st and a high level prospect ( Which Niemela is ) then yes that is a reasonable offer. Asking for Knies for Murphy already outweighs the trade to the point where Chicago would have to give more to get him. If Chychurn's price is that and he is at the same value as Murphy that's the baseline. The Leafs already adding in Kerfoot already outweighs the trade in Chicago's favour to the point where they are winning the trade outright.

Dude. The offers are so weak it shouldn't need to be explained. You're asking for things of value and offering things with a lot less value.

Kerfoot is worthless to Chicago, And i'm sorry Niemela and a 2nd on top of it is nowhere near Murphy's value. Chychrun would get the equivalent of 2 1st round picks. Which is more closer to what Murphy would receive as well.
