So Montreal gives up the least, 2 cap dumps, waiver fodder and a mid first, and get the most. Yeah I'm sure teams will be lining up to help Montreal out.

Montreal should be concentrating on finishing as low as possible. Trade all UFA guys/cap dumps away if they can find buyers... collect as many picks as possible should be the goal.

Calgary says we'll take Josh Anderson please!

Not a cap dump though some think he is but his combination of speed skill and grit is exactly what the Flames need in the top 6. He's 28 now still in his prime but he'll be on the wrong side of 30 by the time Montreal is finished rebuilding and ready to contend so if the price is decent they might as well trade him now and tank a little harder.

Blues decline. I think if they are selling they would rather just get picks and prospects. We don't really have a need for another winger on a long term contract

Yeah he's a beast when healthy, I hated see him go from Columbus.

He would be a great addition to the flames powerplay and top6 forsure. Maybe a 2nd(unless flames reach cup final or something, then it's a 1st), B prospect and a cap dump going the other way

That sounds about right I could even live with the condition as long as it's not a 2023 first.

Milan Lucic (if Montreal is on his trade list or he'll waive for them) or Tyler Toffoli + a 2nd + Martin Pospisil, Walker Dueher or someone in that range. Looch and Toffoli are the only 2 roster players who make any sense for Calgary to send the other way. Toffoli isn't really a cap dump. Looch is a cap dump his cap hit closer to Anderson's but he's got less than 1 mil in actual salary left to be paid. Those are the only 2 that really make any sense, nobody else makes enough money that they'd want to lose plus Anderson would be bumping Toffoli down the depth chart anyhow. Kylington's cap hit isn't big enough and Montreal isn't going to retain salary with 5 years left on Anderson's contract.

Actually Tanev would work even better. Montreal would probably like to get him (he's very good defensively, the 2 years left on his contract fits the rebuild plan nicely and a he's proven great partner for young defensemen) which would lower the rest of the cost but Treliving won't trade him. frown

Habs make out like bandits and Jets taken to the wood shed. They get 2 pending UFAz a guy who just cleared UFA and nothing of interest and give up the best player. And picks. This is all good for Montreal and ok for St.Louis and horrible for Jets.

It's not anything resembling okay for the Blues. In value or in fit.
