@fulton_reed Ya, I thought that was steep. The article said either Holtz or Foote plus a first then players to match cap

Interesting to see they didn't take any time or put in any effort to explain how kanes cap hit works in. Oilers would pass all day long on that

Is that Edmonton deal missing a 1st or something? Seems so much cheaper than pretty much every other proposal.

As far as LA's, they aren't a Kane away from the Cup. They aren't going to give up 2 A- prospects and a 1st for half a year of Kane just for him to bolt again when the Kings can't offer him 6-8mil.

The trade values are all over the place but not really that important since it's hard to predict how much he gets traded for. I will say that I don't see NJ or LA as teams that would be adding high end rentals though, unless the price is low.

As much as they love Broberg, I think the Oilers accept that trade if the cap works. JP's value is down the drain, so it's not really much to give up.

BR didn't mention throwing in a pick for the Oilers. I guess they think JP just needs a change of scenery and he can produce at a high level and Broberg is top prospect. Not sure what BR's thought process was.

I agree about LA. I think BR just had to throw them in there for the sake of having the LA market in the talks.

        1. Unlikely to be open bidding way for Kane as he can pick where we wants to go.

        2. Devils can’t fit $10.5m cap hit.

None of those teams are giving up high end pieces, For essentially 3 months of Patrick Kane and that's if they win the cup. All teams not named Chicago would easily pass.

Trading away one of the few decent RW'S you have for Kane is counter productive.

Kane will simply be too expensive, both by Cap retention and assets given up. Plus, he's more of a distributor than a Scorer, at this stage. No point in watching him and Panarin just pass the Puck back and forth to each other with no one to shoot.

Tarasenko is the better All Around target in a potential Blockbuster move. Assuming they go that route.

Although Tarasenko would be cheaper than Kane, STL would still look to acquire a 2023 !st as well as top prospects for him. Thing is- Tarasenko is about to turn 31, and a UFA at end of year....so this would be another pure rental situation. I'm not dangling 1st round picks or top prospects for ANYONE who I don't expect to be with the team at least a few years.

Very fair. Considering the chemistry that Zibenejad and Kreider already have, as well as the fact that Trocheck and Panarin seem to be adjusting to one another, then you can make the case that neither line needs a big name RW to play with them.

Vatrano was a solid addition last Season, and they got him for a 4th. If you could find similar additions that are doubly cheap (both in Cap hit and assets required) that can play on those Top 2 lines, and therefore keep the Kid Line together, that could be even more beneficial.

The Vatrano , Motte , and Braun additions last year- those are the types of upgrades the Rangers should consider….unless getting back a player signed beyond this year (or an RFA) the 1st round picks should be off the table. But due to Cap constraints, adding someone they can keep beyond this year probably isn’t possible.
