I don't see Colorado doing the repeatedly-offered Newhook-and-a-first-for-Horvat trade any more than I see Los Angeles trading Grans (or any other RhD) for anyone other than a LhD.

      Detroit passes.

Colorado isn't giving up Newhook and a 1st for Bo Horvat, They can't afford him long term anyways. He's just a pure rental for them.

LOL You trade Luke Schenn to Detroit, than you resign him. What makes you even think he'd be available to resign?

I like a lot of the additions you made. The big problem here is still the right D.

Schenn, Bear, Dermott is just not good enough. Left D looks soli though.

You still have cap space though. A guy like Mayfield would be interesting.

Mayfield. Schenn, Bear, Dermott would be better in my mind. Not perfect but better!

      Hughes-Mayfield
      OEL-Schenn
      Graves-Bear
      Dermott-Grans

Starting to look better for sure.

schenn will not get you that much, you'd be lucky to get a single late second or early third

Then why did Savard (a worse player) get a 1st

Colorado deal is fair value. If they were able to extend, it would be great for both sides

The value would be fair for the Colorado trade IF they could extend Horvat. They can't, so it isn't and it won't happen.

also every time the newhook horvat deal is being proposed by canucks fans, they are overlooking that it doesnt solve anything for the avs, all it does it makes a hole somewhere else in the lineup this year and potentially 2 holes next year

      It only benefits the canucks

I think he was signing him so he is traded with term instead of being a UFA. But that doesn't explain why Detroit is buying at the deadline when they aren't making the playoffs.

I actually like Schenn to Detroit to take over for the totally overmatched Gustav Lindstrom on the 3rd pair but Wings wouldn't give up that much for a 33 year old. I'd do a 3rd + 5th or something like that

They'd have a much better chance of squeaking in if they replace Lindstrom with a competent RD asap, waiting until the deadline won't help obviously

I have no problems with Lindstrom but I think Ned needs some time in the minors though. I seem to remember a lot of Wing's fans wanting Hronek gone the better part of last season and not so much any more.

Big pass by Detroit, or any team at that price. Not opposed to the wings signing him in the off-season.

says to highest bidder, doesnt have to be detriot. i really wish there was an anywhere option because i pick a different team every time, say it in the trade, and still have people in the comments.

As far as resigning Schenn, he has stated he wants to stay in Van and resigning here is his #1 priority. If the Canucks are out of the playoffs they have to move him and both sides have said they would be interested again July 1

Washington easily passes here. Mantha has been good this year and has put up points despite getting 3rd line minutes, and Iorio both a better prospect than Rathbone and at a shallower area of the Washington prospect pool. No reason to trade the better prospect and add salary with Backstrom's return on the horizon for DC.
