Better to wait till summer and see what's available.....including Dubois. Trading the 1st overall seems like a poor idea. Hey if wanting a centre maybe Wright would have been the player to select

If Dubois goes to MTL, I doubt he plays at C. I really don't know what is HuGo's thought process on Slaf's development

It definitely won't happen before the end of the season and then it would depend on what Montreal adds to Slafkovsky and the 3rd.

There's also not even a slight chance PLD even looks at that contract.

Lmaoo as if Winnipeg could get more than a recent 1st overall pick and a 3rd for a soon-to-be UFA. Remove your homer glasses my dude.

I think Dubois would be MTL 1C over Suzuki. But i wouldn't want them to trade Slaf.

If Dubois really only wants to play for MTL, you could use the Trouba trade as a comparable, as he only wanted to sign long term with one team too (NYR).

A late 1st and a top 6/top 4 young player.

I love PLD, but he's a luxury at this point until the Canadiens enter their contention window. I can't see them giving up any of the core pieces - Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovksy & Guhle since there is a legit chance they can sign Dubois in free agency when the timing is better, and still keep their core piece.

Hey now, I'd be willing to "add" Armia to balance this out...

Edit: Correction, I'd be willing to swap Slaf for Armia and drop the pick altogether since this is a terrible idea to begin with.

If jets go complete firesale mode, there’s a realm of possibility here, but the success of this season in Winnipeg, I still think there’s a 3/4 deal for Dubois to stay in Winnipeg and then still hits a rather lucrative ufa deal after that and Winnipeg heads for a rebuild.

the only thing to add to make this more fair would probably be price and hoffman.
