Horvat rumors

Description
Despite the protestations of Bruins and Cane fans, both teams have been linked to Bo Horvat. Reportedly, the Bruins are very focused on acquiring Bo.
While this is not the usual M.O. for the Canes, maybe just maybe they would rather they have Bo than Boston.
Seattle is also in the mix, but I imagine the Canucks are only going this route if they have to.

Canes aren’t moving Morrow, but a different RHD, maybe. It would all depend on Horvat being willing to resign ata more realistic cap hit than what he is asking for.

Sorry but those aren't the only teams he's linked to, Also Colorado and Detroit and both can easily beat those offers,

Carolina has pretty much already bowed out of the Bo Horvat sweepstakes, And Allvin wants Necas as a piece.

And what part of Boston not being able to afford Bo Horvat long term don't people understand? Pastrnak wants $12,000,000 and Horvat between $8,000,000 to $9,000,000 per plus Boston has to pay the $4,500,000 performance Bonus to both Bergeron and Krejci. Without moving out some expensive pieces it's not happening.

I would do that if the deal comes with an extension. I don't think we give up Lysell for a rental.

If its Lysell, a 2023 first, and 2 3rds for Horvat and Schenn - I think the Bruins take it on the condition that Horvat agrees to a long-term deal at a cap hit that enables them to keep Pasta and some of their RFAs.

Boston would have to send Craig Smith's expiring contract to Vancouver to make the cap work and it would mean they wouldn't be able to activate Debrusk until the playoffs.

Probably makes more sense for Boston to wait and sign him as an UFA if he really wants to come to Boston though.

I’ve said this before, and I think it was to this poster - I challenge anyone to provide the poster and comment where a Canes fan has posted that Morrow is better than Makar. I can appreciate that the Morrow hype is too high, but misrepresenting in this fashion doesn’t help.

protestations? The price is too high, and the Canes and Canucks see Horvat similarly. Great player having a great year, but not worth signing to a long term extension after a career year. If the price was commiserate with the long term outlook for Horvat, the Canes would make a move.

So the Bo likely extends in Boston….let’s look.

62.8m committed to 12 players next year.

4.5 in bonus overages carried over = 67.3

    Pasta/Bo 20m = 87.3 for 14

    Sway/Freddy 4m = 91.3m for 16

Roughly 5m to fill remaining 7 slots = 96.3 cap hit

    96.3 is a big number.

Who you going to move out. Reilly for sure. That saves 3m but you replace him on the roster so 2m.

94.3. Who’s next. Ullmark? Grizz? Debrusk? Coyle? Going to have move out at least 2 maybe 3 while taking no cap back.

Is it really likely they sign him to an extension?

Allvin asked for Necas, these rumors are dead. Cope with it. Even if they weren't, Carolina aren't moving Morrow. Maybe Drury, Heimosalmi, 1st makes more sense, but Morrow is a very non-starter.

Edit: This would be if Horvat could agree an extension that came in at less than 7.5~. Canes cannot afford much more keeping this current core together.

Bruins fans don’t buy this rumor because the guy who writes about it everyday has no sources and has never been right

Rumors are that the canes are basically out on Horvat talks as Vancouver's price is more than they are willing to pay. Morrow and Necas are non-starters for Horvat. If they really are asking that, there's no way the deals getting done.

I would take that deal if he came with a 6 year team friendly extension.

And yet the reports from multiple sources keep pouring in. Boston management must have a plan you are unaware of.....

An extended Horvat would cost both Carlo and Lysell. Not Lysell and late picks.
