Huge difference is he had a NMC and he basically only wanted to go to FLA so not a great comp IMO. As all the reports are saying 6-7 teams are in on him, going to drive up the cost(not saying this post is it).

The biggest asset in the return package should be a 2023 1st round pick that is likely to be in 25-32 range. Add a prospect or another mid pick. Maybe a roster player to clear a contract.

Teams aren’t going to tee up guys like Nemec, Jarvis, Wright, etc.

Giroux wasn’t in his prime on pace for 60 goals. Bo should definitely get more than him but short of what this post in proposing.

Horvat is a little younger and a C, which are plusses, but he doesn't have five 30 goal seasons to his name either.
So the 2nd might be a 1st and/or the roster player coming back might be a little better than Tatar (who was perceived as a cap dump at the time).

Replace Carlo with Smith and it's probably close enough, but you might be able to get someone a little more serviceable than Smith with a different team, it gives a rough idea.

The Leafs gave up a 1st+ for Nick Foligno. Florida gave up a 1st+ for Chiarot. I can definitely see Horvat being worth two 1sts.

If Andre Copp is worth a first, second, prospect, and late pick, surely a far superior player like Horvat is worth more no?

Just because one team overpays it doesn’t mean others will, especially a contender
