I don't think Olofsson would be a bad pickup. But I'd rather switch that 1st to like a prospect and a 2nd or 3rd.

Fair, I am thinking if teams like carolina miss out on horvat/timo that they may pay more at the deadline for a guy like vic O. Time will tell!

You realise you're not getting a 2023 1st for Olofsson right? Guys like Kane, ROR, Horvat, Kuzmenko, Tarasenko, chychrun are all going to command firsts. Olofsson isn't that, he's not got the term to be more than a rental. No one is paying that for him

I mean realistically he is having a better season than all listed besides horvat kuz and chyc. He currently would be the leading goal scorer on the canes lol

I'm going to compliment you on how you valued of Mittelstadt. He's a decent player but probably can't bring back a 1st; he's got another year at a reasonable cap hit and can play different positions, has a bit of an injury history. Compare that to Habs fans that think a rental of an injured (again) Monahan is worth a 2023 1st on top of the 1st they got to take him on. So, bravo for being realistic, not greedy and delusional.

If Tyler Bertuzzi were willing to sign for 3 yrs @ $5,000,000 per he'd be staying with Detroit not Buffalo.

Yet in even strength goals, he'd be 4th... he's not returning a 1st.

He's got the same amount of EV Strenght Goals as Horvat in like 5min less ice time a game. He will get a 1st

I'm going to compliment you on how you valued of Mittelstadt. ... Yup, on the other hand, he started the season well, then played extremely poorly. Lately he Jost and Olofsson are playing extremely well and Casey has 14pts in his last 19 games. regardless, if traded a second is a good price for his services.
Olofsson, Olofsson, Olofsson.
Over his career he was labeled a PP specialist who could only score because Eichel was feeding him the puck.
Well this year let's hope both of those ideas have been debunked.
ONLY 4 of his 21 goals have come on the PP and Jack has not assisted on any of his goals this year.
As a matter of fact his center is a waiver claim, Tyson Jost (OMW what an amazing pick up).
YTD only 26 NHL forwards (LW or C or RW) have more goals, only 16 have more even strength goals than he and two of those play for the Sabres.
ONLY 6 forwards have a higher Goals/60 than his 1.9.
He would the leading scorer (or be tied for the lead) of 14 NHL teams, yet some think he is not worth a first?
A reality check is needed here, he is having a career year and would return more than a first at the TDL especially since he is signed for one more year.

Doesnt have to be carolina man, clearly that struck a cord and you are a bit biased, nick foligno returned a first at the deadline, same with chiarot, savard etc... Teams who are all in will be willing to trade for a guy who could end up with 40 goals this year

Bertuzzi wants to stay, And Yzerman wants to keep him around a bit longer.Pretty sure he resigns back with Detroit for the same offer you made. At least try and build his value back up.

Cool to hear that Jost is working out in Buffalo - it just never seemed to click for him in Colorado.

The Canes could use some help on the PP as they're currently tied for 25th with ARI at 18.4%.

Olofsson has one of the best shots in the league that can beat any goalie, he's on pace for somewhere between 35 and 40 goals and is signed through next season at a $4.75M cap-hit.

I've read in a place or two that the Avs rushed him.

Thoughts?

Amen, I say amen. He's scored everywhere he's played, it wasn't about eichel, he does need some kind of playmaker at center though. And lol, yes he's not a power play specialist, although I think he would score more on the pp if he wasn't playing the last 30 seconds with mittelstadt and okposo. He may not return a first, that's the winger (non-elite) market, but I would keep him 11 times our of 10 before I sell him for less.

That's sort of the general consensus around him but he's pretty undersized and while he got better defensively as his years with the Avs went on, he never turned into a good top-six option they wanted him to be. He needed a change of scenery and I hope he finds a home in Buffalo.

Thx. Maybe he found a kindred spirit in Mittelstadt, who was rushed as well, partly due to him wanting (?) to leave college early.

But Olofsson has decent contract for next year as well. Rest of those guys, not counting Chychrun (he is worth more than single pick) are pure rentals
