When Kane was traded 20G 20A
      Meier currently 28G 20A

      Is 8 goals worth 2 more 1sts ?

      Not to me.

I started talking to you saying that Meier is worth at least 2 1sts, not 3 (dropping Mittelstadt, assuming he's worth a 1st).

      Agree to disagree.

Meier may be slightly better. Not 2 1st round picks better,

Then factor in cap space around the league?

Tell me where I said Meier was worth 2 1st round picks better than what Kane got, I do not understand your standpoint.

22 man roster built with Meier QO'd at $10M, Noah Gregor retained at $1M, and guys they currently have under contract called up to fill in the roster holes. $2M leftover to find a suitable 1B goalie to tandem with Kahkonen. They're not in the *best* cap situation but this isn't like the Fiala situation, where Minnesota would have to dump contracts to be able to afford re-signing him. They have the room to keep Meier if no one meets their price.

Okay, but that is not good. That is a team in trouble.

You've been reasonable. Sorry responding to the offer here more than what you said. My bad.

Still, BUF has no reason to pay more for Meier than what SJ paid for Kane. We just don't need to.

We're 1st in the league in GF.

That's not the point. They were bad last year, they're bad this year, and they will be bad next year with or without Meier - they're in a rebuild, of course they're gonna be bad.

The point I was trying to make was you said that they *had* to move Meier because their cap situation was desperate - which it clearly isn't. They can fit his QO on next year's team and shop him as a true rental at the deadline if they don't get their price met this year. Acting like they should take a lesser return than what they're aiming for because they can't fit his cap hit is not reading the situation correctly - they can easily do it, and if you ("you" being any GM interested in him) aren't interested in paying their price, then they're gonna hold on to him.

fair enough. you can fit him, but it won't be easy.

And finding a trading partner with his contract won't be easy.

And because that won't be easy, I doubt you will be getting an exorbitant amount back for him. Most teams can't fit him without making sacrifices back.

I prefaced your return for Burns. And VGK's for Patches.

      This is the league.

Meier should get a decent amount back, but Grier is a rookie GM in a very tough market.

Could you tell me which players got 2 1sts?

I'm struggling to come up with players that got that back.

      Eichel <> Tuch, Krebs, 1st
      ROR <> Tage, 1st

      Duchene? 2 1sts from CBJ.

      And?

Basically no one gets 2 1sts back, let alone 3. Especially Ws. Especially players without contracts,

Can't wait for someone to provide me with an example tho of this happening.

it's more of a top prospect+1st ask. Later pick prospects, like 2nd rounders, that show they should have been picked earlier count, as long as they go into the top prospect category.

Very reasonable. BUF fans are willing to throw out 3 1sts + 2nd like candy.

Y'all might want to make your crystal balls a little shinier.

I would say that Lou should have retired gracefully with his legacy intact after leaving the Devils in 2015.

Given that he was made NHL GM of the Year twice with the Islanders, it seems that Lou is now "way in over his head" at this point.
