If that's all it takes, then the Devils should be charged with robbery.

More likely if there were to be a deal without Holtz:

Mukhamadulin
Sharangovich
2023 1st
2024 3rd

Think Holtz will ultimately be in the deal tho

If he isn’t, he sure as hell is close to it. Close to point per game down in the ahl, and projected to make a fight for a roster spot on the devils next year, despite us having the depth that we do.

Picks available: any

Prospects probably on the table: Mukahamdullin, Casey, Foote, Bahl, Gritsyuk, Filmon, Salminen, Vilen, Zetterlund, Clarke, Thompson, Okhotiuk, McCarthy, etc

Unlikely: Nemec, Holtz

Less likely than unlikely: Hughes

Mix and match.
Plenty of routes to go.
Big question will be extension.

Not big, but he is good in close…crease, dirty areas. Would be so psyched if he develops.

Yeah seems reasonable to believe some combo of 2 from the "on the table list".
it's interesting reading what Peng said what his source considers an A vs B prospect (in the comments section):
https://sanjosehockeynow.com/san-jose-sharks-timo-meier-trade-return/
He uses Luke Hughes as an example for a grade A
He says Raty and Othmann are grade B and his source considers Nemec an "A-B tweener"
Wondering where Holtz lies then because many put Nemec over him
Grier is probably asking for the moon

Oof.

He doesn’t seem to know what A/B mean. It’s scouting short-hand for a value of a player relative to their age cohort. Comes from early list produced by central scouting every year for draft, where they rate players to watch before their draft season begins.

“A” = 1st round (top-30 in age group)
“B” = 2nd/3rd round (30-90)
“C” = 4th the 7th

The terminology is used after draft to measure a players development relative to his peers. In short, if you did a redraft today, all 1st rounder would be “A”.

I don’t think just by going off round drafted in for categorizing prospects is ideal. Bystedt was drafted 27th last year by sj and I don’t see him as an A prospect

That is just the parlance used in scouting community for years. A-rated is a pretty wide group.

I wish there was a better uniform lingo to separate the elite from the good. I generally use top-10, top-25, top-100…to measure a prospect against the entire pool of prospects. I find it has nice break to it. Top-25 rarely ever get moved. But interestingly, the 26-50 crowd frequently do.

Tell me why you think Anderson returns so much.

And don’t say # hits…which is really just an indicator of how much his team is playing without the puck. NJD entire system is built on possession. How would he fit on Devils? Would he beat out Nate Bastian for a roster spot? And why?

Ah very relevant further comment:
question: what’s your source consider Shakir Mukhamadallin?
Peng: He’s a B, along with Holtz. FWIW I actually asked three different NHL sources, about my Grade-A and B evaluations

So there you have it NHLfan10506, give me my holtz+muk+1st tears of joy

(to be clear there's no way I think Holtz or Muk would drop out of the 1st round in a redraft, so obviously folks are using different systems for A/B)

Sharks pass

They also likely pass on any deal with sharangovich as the main piece. He’s on an expiring deal and isn’t that attractive.

San Jose doesn’t have to trade Timo Meier. If NJ wants him it’s going to cost them. Any trade for Meier starts with Holtz and a first round pick, then you can add from there. They’re not going to take back a contract AND retain money, either (not that your deal has that but the entire board is full of devils fans being weird)

Well of course not, silly. If we're talking about acquiring Anderson, the Devils would have to add Blackwood and Johnsson to the deal. It's only fair since Montreal would be adding their 23 and 24 1st round picks in the deal. smile
