Larkin will be a UFA instead of signing a deal right before the TDL...especially a seven year deal. If you want Larkin...just wait till the summer

What makes you think that Larkin will even make it to free agency? He could be dealt to Boston and Sweeney pops some magic to sign him. If Larkin is dealt he probably doesn't make it to free agency.

There's absolutely no freaking way that Larkin waives his full NTC for Buffalo, And no way in hell he signs for $8,500,000 in Buffalo when he's going to get that from the hometown Red Wings. Larkin would want $9,500,000 to sign with Buffalo. And that crap doesn't get him extended anyways.

Mittelstadt sucks, An extended Larkin starts with Cozens and nothing else. Mittelstadt is a 3C which we already have tons of within the organization.

Extended I think you're tossing in Savoie.

I doubt he'd sign for 7 years though, he'd want 8.

Only a players current team can sign him for 8 years.

You’re delusional if you think Cozens is the starting point for a Larkin trade. They are producing almost identically, both with 43 points this season, except Cozens is 21, and Larkin is 26. Cozens is also bringing that production playing 3 minutes less per game than Larkin, and playing with lesser linemates. I’d be surprised if a single GM would trade Cozens for Larkin, let alone a team that is rebuilding a young up and coming team, and not yet a cup contender.

Hypothetically if he is to waive, to me it makes more sense Larkin going to a team like Buffalo. If money and term are the biggest factors (and they clearly are for him) then Boston, Colorado etc simply can't offer what he wants.

You're the one that's delusional if you think you're getting Larkin extended for that Garbage. Other than the 1st it's total rubbish Mittelstadt is a decline compared to Larkin and Kulich and Johnson are major jokes. This crap doesn't get a Dylan Larkin signed autograph it's pure rubbish.

When did I say that I thought this trade was good or fair? I think it would be a bad move for Buffalo to go after Larkin, we already have Tage Thompson as our 1C and Dylan Cozens as our 2C, both near the top of the league for their respective positions. Spending the assets and cap on another center when we will have Dahlin, Power, Krebs, Jj Peterka, Quinn, etc to sign. The Sabres forward group seems to be pretty set for now, at least the top 9. I don’t foresee them adding someone they expect to be in the top 6. Between the young NHLers growing, and the prospects (Kulich, Savoie, Ostlund, Rosen, etc) there really isn’t need or room for more forwards other than possibly 4th line replacements next year. If anything, a trade would be for a defenseman, to upgrade Bryson and maybe push Jokiharju down a pair.

And as to your point of value, that package is more than what Bo Horvat got, and he was extended. Horvat has twice as many goals this season and more points. Larkin had more points last season, but Horvat matched him in goals, and beat him in points and goals the year prior. Just some food for thought.

Kevyn, please get the cozens extension done so we can stop seeing these trades/signings

Buffalo has our top 2 centers locked in for 7-8 years. Enough.

Cozens > Larkin and there is a 5 year age gap. Kulich and a 1st is a crazy good haul for a potential rental Larkin, plus you are getting a 2nd and solid prospect in Johnson. No way Buffalo offers that. If they want Larkin, they can try him in FA if he gets there

You have 0 clue who Kulich is clearly. You really think Larkin is a McDavid level player?

Cozens gets easier matchups to play against, Larkin faces top D pairings every night. Cozens also has no track record of producing like this. It could be real or it could be an outlier
