Still no, the Kings are Sabres aren't going to be trade partners when both need a defensive defenseman. Why not just hold onto Martinez and have him play with Power?

Seems to be a well thought out scenario. Gotta think Meier will get more for San Jose. If an extension was in place, the Sabres certainly have the cap and a young assets to give .

Impossible to say if Mitts would be part of the deal or not
BUT
I do wanna give my fellow Sabres fans some props here
There’s A LOT of ridiculously horrible trade proposals that get made on this site…..
And most of the ones i see us making for Meier seem to at least be “in the ballpark” value wise

Yeah there are some other fanbases that are overly attached to their prospects and assume they'll be the next McDavid. Like Knies is a solid prospect but he hasn't put up the number to be "untouchable". He's probably around bordeleau level of prospect, who I consider to be a B level guy.
