Personal Take: I think he is overestimating what they will get, but might as well shoot for the moon. I wonder how Hertl is feeling about his deal these next couple of weeks

The Devils trade is the most plausible but I’m not sure they want to pay that much.

Canes aren’t moving Morrow. Nikishin, maybe, but unlikely. 1st, Grudinin, Drury, 2nd a lot more likely.

It would be Lucius OR Mcgroarty, not both. And I just read the article - it says "and/or", but it would be OR for sure.

^This.

Winnipeg will be willing to part with one of them in a Meier trade, but what is essentially four first rounders is a bit an an overpay.

Yeah, the Pens trade is about what I'd expect it to take and would be 100% fine with that.

I think the Devils have the best options to work with if they really want him. They just have so many young players and prospects to offer that they can afford to lose. Also, NJ would be crazy to not pay that much. Locking up Meier easily puts NJ on Dynasty trail.

What's the Canes fans' sentiment on Morrow vs Nikishin? Honestly as a Sharks fan, I'd rather have Nikishin 100%

Nikishkin is the better prospect for sure but won’t be coming over until 2025 I believe. The Morrow hype train is a little out of control, I highly doubt he lives up to it.

Morrow is looking like he will be the Canes long term 1RD. Nikishin is looking like he might be somewhere between a Skjei or Slavin replacement. The problem with Nikishin is his KHL contract, and when he might come over to NA. I’m pretty sure the Canes would like to hold out on Nikishin just based on his potential, but they might consider moving him if the right deal comes along.

While I don't think Holtz will be moved and don't want to move him, this is fine. Miles Wood is your problem now.

On these boards Morrow is rated higher. Elsewhere generally it seems that Nikishin is the more complete player and also has a higher ceiling. I tend to side with the latter. The part that complicates it is that Nikishin won’t come over until ‘25 at the earliest and you just never know how those situations play out. Both of their values are probably at an all time high right now though and you know how prospects can be - not all live up to the hype.

I think Nikishin could step into top 4 today easily (minus his contract situation, just talking ability), play all situations and maybe he’s a top pair guy one day. Morrow can probably play shelter third pair minutes and run a PP next year probably but I think he’s more of a second pairing ceiling guy.

Another issue that a lot of us fans with moving one of them is there’s not much org D depth behind those guys. Lot of long shot guys with decent upside but also a lot of holes in their games. It’s the opposite of our prospect F depth. Not a lot of elite talent at this point but a ton of middle 6 future guys with high floors.

Morrow is a bit overrated by Canes fans on here but that doesn’t mean he’s not a valuable prospect. He’s one of the better offensive defensemen prospects in the entire league. The issue is he’s going to need sheltering from a defensive perspective. Nobody wants to hear it - but he needs a full year on the AHL to learn the pro game. Some on here think he could jump into a playoff game this year which would be a mistake.

Nikishin is the real deal…my concerns with him have zero to do
With the Ice. Every moment he’s in Russia ticks off the % chance he ever comes over. The path he’s on is concerning…Traded to SKA for massive assets, signs and extension to 2025. He’s 21 and is already a star in the KHL. Im trending towards 50/50 he ever plays in the NHL.
