Many can use a lesson on managing expectations. You dealt two one dimensional guys on expiring deals and you got a first in the deepest draft ever. They would have walked for nothing.

Not a terrible trade at all. It's not like he was the best or 2nd or 3rd best forward available and has a pretty lengthy injury history.

Got a 1st, and there is something to be said for making the deal sooner vs. later. You're icing a less competitive team for longer, and still have Barby and ROR as TDL chips.

When the dust settles, your own 1st could end up top 5, you'll have another 1st later, and then TBD value with those other 2. That ain't too bad.
