I also find the idea of Toronto theoretically buying back Barabanov after losing him on waivers to be hilarious.

I don't believe buffalo will trade Levi under any circumstances

don't see TOR going for Barabanov after it was such an awful fit for some reason last time. Value good or not I just don't see that happening.

Dubas just said he would not be trading 1st (or Knies) for rentals; of course that might not be true. The picks coming back help (as you pointed out) but no need for Reimer & Barabanov not the type of player we need imo

Sabres don't need retention, nor Bonino, but other than that they'd probably offer one of their plethora of quality forward prospects instead of Levi

This is very tempting, tbh. If Meier does not go above 8,5 on 8 yrs deal, I would really really consider that.

I never will. from day 1 he has been a fantastic addition to the team.
yes he isn't a goal scorer and his defense while not bad, could be better.
but his puck movement 50/50 battles along the boards and passing have been superb.
the perfect complimentary piece for a line.
Last year i wondered if it was just because of being with Hertl and Meier, but this year with Couture he is still putting up solid numbers and Couture is having his best season in the last few years. cant be a coincidence.

I don’t think a Carolina 3rd counts as an early third.

Both are bad trades for San Jose imo. Don’t trade a 40 goal scorer for a goalie. San Jose isn’t moving a 50 point cheap winger with a pick in the 30s for a pick in the 20s

Yeah, I mean just looking at the Athletics prospect rankings, we had 4 forwards (savoie, kulich, ostlund, and rosen) plus Levi at 4th. That's a bunch of first round picks, three of which play center, that belong to a team that has been scoring pretty well. From a value standpoint, if you wanted a prospect, the forwards should be more appealing. We need a goalie, goalie prospects are voodoo, and center prospects are very valuable (first round ones anyways).

Oops, that can be considered the 2024 SJ 3rd then.

The sharks haven't had a good goalie prospect in a million years, and they have only long shot prospects. Goalie prospects are a lot more certain a few years after the draft versus at the draft.

Strongly strongly disagree, especially on the BUF trade.

I think Buffalo could agree to that IF they could get Portillo to sign.

Agreed matter of fact put Portillo in Levi's place and add a little something else.

In Adam's presser today he mentioned Levi and didn't say anything about Portillo when asked about the future of the goaltending.

how bout Portillo, Ostlund and a 24 first.
I went to the 24 first bc I think Adams wants one more solid draft.
With 3 seconds it gives him some maneuverability at the draft to move back into the 1st round or secure a defenseman at the TDL

Sabres aren’t gonna move Levi though
Even though UPL has been good for us, Levi is still seen as our goalie of the future

We are deep at forward prospects though,
we’d likely include 1 or 2 of them in a trade to you guys

Still highly unlikely
Better bet that we’d send them Portillo & a forward prospect

20 to 65 could be the sweet spot for D in this upcoming draft.

I feel the Sabres would rather trade one of the 4 first round prospects than give up 23 first. I also don’t see the Sabres going after timo who is outside the Sabres pay structure
