I generally agree, but Trotz is the exception to the rule. He's certainly stubborn, but he was able to make his star players adapt to his system in Washington and it paid off big time. NYI are certainly worse off w/o him.

The problem with systems coaches is that they are always tightening the screws in a futile pursuit of perfection.
No system is perfect. There has to be room for improvisation and creativity, as well as an allowance for mistakes.
If you could win with only a system, you wouldn't need dynamic or highly skilled players, just physically capable players who understood and followed instructions.

What do you suggest Mikheyev is worth then? Cheaper than Anderson. Better offensively than Anderson. Better defensively Anderson. And he is fast!!!

You still don't understand that GMs value Anderson higher, because of his pedigree of being a power forward. Once again, if I'm being brutally honest, he's worth a 1st at Max. I'm just telling you what you should expect.

Mikheyev has a pretty good pedigree of having an elite defensive game. He has speed, hard on the puck, and has been producing more points and goals. Josh Anderson isn't going to get a 1st and top good prospects because of his "pedigree"

Are you going to explain why? Seriously, Josh Anderson hits and has speed. Ok. Mikheyev has speed. Sure he doesn't hit, but he is a hard forechecker with history of being elite defensively. He has that reputation of being dangerous on the PK. He also has been putting up more points than Anderson. A two way threat is worth a 1st max but a one dimensional power forward is worth a 1st ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Here's a take I dont think Mikhayev has that bad of a contract pretty good Point production this year while playing on one leg.(and waaay better than Anderson)

What I will also say is Josh Anderson definitely has value, GM's like his playstyle and for some oddreason will tend to overpay for his type player. With that being said I dont think he nets much more than a 1st if he does indeed get traded for a 1st. Also in any trade there is likely have either Some Salary retention or Cap going the other way.
