I wonder the same thing. They are number 1 by a country mile and project to be one of the greatest regular season teams of all time. They don't have a very deep prospect pool and I doubt they would move any big names like Lohrei or Lysell to bolster an already strong defense core. Not only do I not understand the connection to Boston, but I also don't want to understand it because Boston with Chychrun frightens me as a Leafs fan

I mean this is clearly their last year. Bergeron retiring, Krejci likely retiring, all of those UFA's likely looking for raises (including their best player in Pasta). This is really a year they have to go for it.

Defense doesn’t need the help tho. And where would he play. 3rd pairing?

I mean why not. He's a top 4 Defender and it gives Boston another year with him (or even trade him in his UFA year). Never hurts having more top 4 defenders.

Bullboards/insiders are often adamant at times that Leafs are going for FWD playoff depth TDL, pffffft to getting a D-Man, or 2; not needed.

The eye-test says otherwise - pudgy, uber-soft, D-Core from #1 thru #8...
