He might end up being the worst GM in history.

Setting the franchise up nicely to lose for a decade.

What did SJS expect with the QO their former GM set Meier up to recieve?

Lets be sure the blame goes to the guy who structured the contract.
No one's here blaming Kent Hughes for the Return on Petry due to his horrible Contract.
They put the blame where its deserved with Marc Bergavin .

SJS needs to do the same with Wilson who deserves it in this case.

bro this QO crap is beaten to death it's almost like you guys have beat it out of existence. I'd bet 20k Fitz could not give more than two f's about the QO situation.
so many cf gremlins have harped about it forever but Fitz truly I bet does not care.

Every sharks fan I’ve seen here assured me they were getting a haul without retention. The real world has come back to yet again disagree with CF and in a big way!

You talk to one guy probably then make a conclusion about the whole fan base. Plenty of people saying Meier would fetch something reasonable but not spectacular like Hughes, Nemec, Mercer.

You're right NJ probably couldn't care less about the QO, and being an attractive destination for players means they probably have no fear about his interest in re-signing there. That also doesn't mean these weren't issues for Meier's other suitors. I mean Carolina has a great prospect pool but beyond them what other team would or even could have beaten that offer?

Yeah so already wrong at that one as my suggestion from NJD was a 2023 1st, Holtz, and Muk; for Meier at 50% which is not a mile off or an unrealistic haul so. That’s already not every fan asking for Mercer and Nemec.

And that didn’t happen. None of their top prospects went to the Sharks. It wasn’t multiple 1sts.

Seriously. It was a terrible trade when I first saw it, and when the expert opinions started coming in it looked worse. Then the Jeannot trade hit and made Grier look like a total disaster of a clown. #FireGrier

They should have received a haul for a top 5 W in the league. Grier is just a clown show of a GM. The experts across the league all agree it was a terrible trade for the Sharks. They got one very low first, a B prospect, a bottom 6 winger, and a 2nd for an elite superstar winger in his prime. Holtz, a 1st and roster player isnt a haul, it would have been an acceptable return, instead we got sh*t.

Multiple GMs have already been quoted saying the QO isnt an issue. Especially since Meier wasnt just going to sign the QO for one year and then peace out on any decent team. Oh, and there is the fact that the brass in the NHL think he's absolutely worth 10M per season, even though they'll like settle for less on an 8 year.
