“Washington Capitals arguably have the best trade deadline as sellers.”

Just like we all predicted.

Too much for Sandin. Good add but he doesn’t demand that kinda value yet.

I don’t like giving up the first but honestly I’m so happy to pick up sandin. He’s a great addition.

Already posted on the leaf version of this,

Good deal for both sides. For the Leafs, recoup a first and depth for a player not playing for them and hasn't been trusted by the coach. Same return as nils lunqvist

For the caps, they get a young dman with potential to extend their window. He hasn't been able to play a top 4 role for Toronto largely do to the fact that he is small and not fast. Not a great combination, yet he has great IQ. He can help a powerplay and throw the occasional hit. Hoping for the best for sandin on the caps.

Orlov and Gus were gone. They got Sandin for two rentals.

He is a 22-year-old defenseman with 20 points in 50 games playing bottom minutes, Hes about to run PP1 for the caps, caps get younger and faster with him. It is a massive win for them. What are the odds the potential 30-32 pick is anything close to Sandin?

I don’t have an issue with the add. I said it was a good add. I just think WAS gave a bit more value than he should demand at this point.

Pains me to say win-win. Love the kid, but with McCabe for the next 3 years he wasn't going to have a fair fight on our left side. We now recoup some draft capital, whether taht means another big trade or not, and a replacement for this year in terms of offensive play on PP and stuff. You guys are gonna love him, I'm sad to see him go but I get why it happened for Toronto

Thtas fair, I think we truthfully underpaid a bit, Think Gus straight up woulda gotten a 2 or 3. So basically we gave up a 1&2 for Sandin which I think is fair

On a team that's gone 3-5-2 since getting him, he's scored a point per game; usually, it takes some time before a new arrival settles in. I think that this is going to turn out to be a real win for Washington; we'll see what Toronto does with the draft pick.
