I don't think canes GM would go from cheap contracts only to giving 3 guys 8+ mill. I think he'd rather sign Jarvis to 5 mill 8 years right now than do that.

That's not getting Hertl nor is he even available. Two below average prospects and a late 1st is a joke.

Don’t you have to put Laine, Aho and Puljujarvi together?

Why would Puljujarvi accept a one year, $1.65M deal when his QO offer is $3M? Particularly after he already turned down a multi-year, sub-$2M offerfrom EDM?

He definitely had a recent bad stretch of games. Looked great Tuesday after a taking a couple games off/baby Hertl. I think he's been playing through injuries but we shall see.

Then **** it, take your chances on the open market. Can’t quite say this ACGM does much to entice him to stay.

Is he going to get more than that on the market? Probably not

I mean, either he shows well in CAR, in which case, yes I think he will.

Or he doesn’t, in which case, can’t see much incentive to keep him around as a fourth liner - either from his perspective or CAR’s; though, hell, AZ and CHI will need guys to fill out their roster, so I could see teams paying him more regardless.

Or maybe he goes back to Europe.

Unless we’re talking a 35+ guy, or a hometown kid, there just isn’t an incentive for a guy like him to take a contract like this.

I'd do that Hertl trade all day, but there's really nothing all that exciting going back to SJ. A late 1st, decent prospect and another prospect thats highly doubtful to even crack an nhl lineup. Also i'd rather just keep our young guys instead of Laine to not further complicate our cap situation when the time comes to extend Aho, Necas, etc.
