Moving down 11 spots to pick up 2 more top 100 picks doesn't seem like terrible value. Obviously if a guy they love is there they don't do this, but it isn't bad in terms of trading back imo.

I think Grier keeps our picks this year particularly our 1st in a deep draft.

While moving back 11 picks from 25-26 and pick up 3 top 100 picks is a perfectly fine value, this isnt the draft to do it and with 11+ picks already sharks aren't in a position to need picks, though I'm sure a few of the contenders left with 1sts but not much else might jump on that deal. I.E. COL, Florida, VGK etc.

actually we have a decent prospect group, what we need is high caliber and you don't get those trading back.

I think Grier keeps our picks this year particularly our 1st in a deep draft.

"Deep Draft" is a commonly misunderstood deal amongst fans. Deep means that there might be 10-12 guys that would go top 5 in most drafts rather than pick #25 is wildly more valuable in this draft than another draft.

I'd take this package and run if I were Grier. Difference between 25 and 36 when it comes to getting top end talent is basically meaningless. This way, you get 3 kicks at the can of finding a good player in that range rather than 1. Comparing the 2015 Draft (deepest of recent history) with other drafts, the difference in points per game per 1st round drafted skater outside of the top 5 is something like 0.49 from 2015 to 0.47 on average from other years.

Moving down 11 spots in a deep 1st round to out of that awesome talent range is bad.

They have plenty of prospects, not a ton of high end ones. That what happens when you are good for 15-17 years unlike Buffalo

Yeah, and it's really situational. Grier traded the 2022 11th OA for a group of lower picks, so if he still thinks SJ's pool is too small and there is nobody around ~25-30OA he wants then he might be willing to make a move like this again. It seems like SJ had Bystedt, Lund, and Havelid pinned.

this draft is 40 deep with players that would be taken in the top 20 on an average draft! and the higher up the better. counter argument in deep drafts like these players who lack size speed or refinement wind up falling into the late 2nd early 3rd only to wind up being plus player down the road.
Like I said the value is there but the reason shark pass is we have a deep prospect pool of decent players and what we really need is players with higher ceilings to round out our prospect pool and the higher we can draft the better our chances of landing those type players.
If Grier does this I would not be angry, but at 26 a guy like Kohen zeimmer, Maxim Strbak and Michael Hrabal will likely be available and all 3 would add value in a position of need.
