Kent Hughes drafting his students

Created by: LIRIK
Team: 2023-24 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 27, 2023
Published: Mar. 27, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
My dream scenario (outside of winning the lottery) is MTL manage to get another top 15-20 pick and draft the whole USDP first line (Smith, Leonard and Perreault).

Maybe CGY would be interested in Coronato's linemate, Farrell, for their 2023 1st.

Preds are looking for LHD prospects, and MTL have a bunch of them. Maybe they could trade one of Harris or Xhekaj+ for one of the two 2023 1st NSH own.

Or maybe MTL could trade up their 2023 2nd, but that would be a big jump (37 to top 20).

MTL could also add a mid 2023 1st by trading Anderson or Matheson, or taking a cap dump from another team.

  1. Farrell, Sean

We just convinced him to sign with MTL, not sure trading him would look good, unless he agrees to go to CGY to play with Coronato.

Additional Details:
Like Farrell, he signed with MTL last season even if he could have been a UFA a few weeks after. With the logjam on MTL LD, he would have a better chance to play top 4 with NSH.

Detroit declines.
I'm not sure [REDACTED] is worth a 1st rounder - especially a mid 1st.

Will Smith is a Right Winger not a Center.

Sure if you want the Islander 1st rd pick, We'll gladly take Nick Suzuki off your hands. Or else pass.

Detroit's NYI 1st Round pick will cost you Cole Caufield. So now that you have that information, you can delete that trade on your own.

Nashville may be looking for lhd prospects but ones that will be a couple years to develop as we have jsoi, McDonagh, lauzon at the NHL level and absolutely noway we trade our 1st unless it is to move up in the draft

MTL would be really smart to trade Caufield for a 15th overall pick.

Reuniting Farrell with Coronato could be enticing, but i agree it doesn't happen often, even more after he just signed with MTL when he could have been a FA in August.

15th overall pick in the deepest draft in some 20 years. He might wind being far better than Cole Caufield who can't even stay healthy. This is already his 2nd injury in basically less than one full season.

CGY would be interested in Farrell, but not for their 2023-1st Round Pick

Maybe a 2nd Round Pick (or Adam Ruzicka) + Martin Pospisil at the most FOR Sean Farrell

Johnathan Kovacevik for either Nic Meloche or Mathias EmilioPettersen would be worth discussing as well

The thing is, MTL would use that pick to draft a player maybe as good as Farrell (Perreault). If CGY are 100% sure they can get a better player than Farrell at 15, they should definitely draft. But i'm not sure. And he's Coronato's better linemate.

Flames choose and keep their 1st Round Pick all day long

Questions remain whether the undersized Farrell will be as good without his long-term buddy Coronato and whether his value has indeed increased to the equivalent of a mid-1st since being Drafted

If what's wrong with this ACGM is Anderson might get a 1st, then it's a good ACGM.

Coronato is 1 inch taller and 8lbs heavier. Could argue Farrell, the more skilled player, was the one making Coronato better. I guess we're about to see.

Farrell had a similar production to Caufield on his 2 NCAA seasons. I think that's worth a mid 1st.

I thought CGY fans would want to reunite both players. The only reason MTL would be doing that is also to reunite linemates.

Reuniting Coronato & Farrell in CGY is a fine idea, but the idea of the Flames paying a 2023-1st (or Pelletier) for Farrell is not

Might be able to get Connor Zary with a Sweetener added to Farrell, otherwise I think it starts with Ruzicka or a 2nd instead

MTL are not interested in trading Farrell for either Ruzicka or Pelletier.

Today on radio, Bob Hartley said Farrell comparable is Gaudreau.

I thought CGY would be interested in Farrell, who is as good as Coronato. For fun, how high a pick would you ask for Coronato?

The Perreault, Smith, Leonard line are all going to BC next season. Gonna be a ridiculous freshman unit.

MTL could probably draft two of the three with the two 1st they already own. I hope there's a way they can draft all three.

Farrell production is similar to Caufield in the NCAA. He's linemate to CGY top prospect Coronato, drafted 13th overall in 2021. Both are equally good and complete each other very well.

Harris is going to be better than Romanov, who was just traded for a 13th overall pick. I don't see why a team drafting between 15 and 20 needing a LHD wouldn't at least consider.

Caufield was at a goal a game in college, a year younger then than farrell is now, and playing in the big 10. not comparable
