No from Winnipeg. They give up the two best players and get a 1st and a pile of nothing in return.

Devils wouldn't be interested in Hoffman even at a realistic price

-Devils would pass, I think. Hoffman has rebuilt some value this year but I can't see Jersey giving up two younger players for an older middle-6 PP specialist.

-This kinda feels like quantity over quality - it's a couple of B/B+ prospects in Kidney & Mailloux, a post-hype prospect in Heineman, plus two kinda pricey vets in Dvorak & Guraniov (if you qualify him.) I think there's a better package to be built around that 2023 Florida 1st that both sides would be happy with.

-Easy pass for Vancouver. They're tight against the cap next season so adding $5.2M in two guys that would be a bottom-pair LD and a 4th center doesn't make a ton of sense; nor does giving up picks & prospects if they're trying to rebuild. And why would the Habs trade Jordan Harris so soon after extending him to an eminently reasonable contract.

-I honestly don't see anything in that Islanders trade to justify Montreal turning a 4th into a 2nd in the 2024 draft. Simoneau is 5'6" and, fair or not, is a longer shot to make the NHL than Liukas is. Fairbrother doesn't profile as much of an NHL prospect, either. Johnston isn't a contract that *needs* to be moved, so not sure why the Isles would make this kind of move.

Kidney >Barron
I mean i want Barron , he's a great 4th line Center or 3rd line Winger.
But we're talking about a Barbashev lite here at best unless he proves the scouts and his projections wrong .
But as it stands is more of a Jaskin than a Barbashev.

Kidney is a projected middle 6 forward who's floor is Barron's ceiling.
I mean i agree about the deal not making sense for either side but i disagree with your lack of knowledge about players outside your system

Agreed

Agree-ish i guess but Simmoneau wont have an issue as he can take the hits like Caufield and how he responds is by driving the Offensive Zone hard .
Fairbrother more or less is your Joe Morrow type fringe NHL player who will get the job cause he's good defensively , hits hard and fights anyone in his goalies crease.
Issue with him is he's unrefined chaos like a young Pezzetta was before Ducharme settled him down .

Overrating tf out of Kidney there, his floor is not a quality NHLer

You're overrating your prospects a bit, but everyone does. One's an NHL'er, one may never be. Kidney is a 2nd round pick, so the odds of him playing 200 games in the NHL are slim.

So if we consider Barron and Kidney a wash, then the Jets are getting a 1st and nothing else of value to them for PLD.

Barron is a 6th rounder so he had no value until he played?
I know NYR fans valued him before that , i tried trading for him with no success.

I wouldnt say this is a great deal ,i just didnt like the comment against Kidney
It would be like me saying "4th line winger 24 years old and playing like he was drafted in the 6th round "
I'd never say that as its a simplistic evalutation based on todays success only
Based on what i've seen from Barron he's well surpassed his draft day evaluations doing so as a guy with size and they generally take longer to mature.

Canucks decline.

Bear = Harris
2nd = Edmundson
Kravtsov + 4th = Evans
Johansson + Jurmo > Kapanen

Value seems somewhat close, however it fits absolutely none of Vancouver's needs. Van needs RD > LD, so Bear for Harris doesn't make sense. Same goes for Edmundson, don't need LD, especially a $3.5 mil 3rd pair one when we need to use our cap space wisely. Kravtsov for Evans doesn't make much sense since we just acquired Kravtsov for super cheap, want to see what he can do in a full season in Van before moving on. Would take Johansson and Jurmo over Kapanen, Canucks need defense a lot more than they need more forwards, we already have too many forwards as is.

Okay. That's noted and it wasn't a fair comment about Kidney. I just lumped him in with the remainder of the stuff in the offer which basically has no value to Winnipeg and he shouldn't have been included.
