Trades
1.
WPG
  1. Barron, Justin
  2. Pitlick, Rem
  3. 2023 1st round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
I can't see the Jets getting much more than this back for PLD. It is going to be sad but has to be done.
MTL
  1. Dubois, Pierre-Luc [RFA Rights]
2.
WPG
  1. Samsonov, Ilya [RFA Rights]
  2. 2023 1st round pick (BOS)
  3. 2024 1st round pick (TOR)
TOR
  1. Hellebuyck, Connor
Additional Details:
The value is a complete dice roll. No one has any clue what a top 3 goalie is worth on the trade market but Helle is a game-changer that can steal games. If the Leafs' goaltending is the problem in the playoffs (which I think it will be) then they will probably target a Helle.
3.
WPG
  1. Bussi, Brandon [RFA Rights]
  2. Lohrei, Mason [Reserve List]
  3. Lysell, Fabian
Additional Details:
No idea how the league values Scheif. They dont have many picks so grabbed a goalie prospect who is playing lights out in the AHL, a puck moving D prospect that killed it this year at Ohio State, and Lysell who I think is still going to be a solid middle 6er.
BOS
  1. Scheifele, Mark ($3,062,500 retained)
Additional Details:
Boston makes the most sense here. Could lose their top 2 Cs to retirement. They need someone since I don't see this team entering a rebuild this offseason.
4.
WPG
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (ARI)
ARI
  1. Pionk, Neal
Additional Details:
AZ takes on a project as they did with ghost bear.
5.
WPG
  1. Grans, Helge
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
Solid return for the Jets. It could be a 1st or at least a bit more than this since Dillon is having a great season.
LAK
  1. Dillon, Brenden
Additional Details:
LA will need to replace gavrikov since he wants to explore the open market.
6.
WPG
  1. 2024 5th round pick (CGY)
CHI
  1. Appleton, Mason

If helly scheifele Dubois go, you might as well deal ehlers and Connor, demelo and add as much value as you can.

"Solid return" is right, but No, we're not trading Helge Grans or our 2023 second for one season of Brendan Dillon, let alone both.

A player who is going to be 33 2 months into next season, and a UFA at the end of it, is getting neither a 1st round pick, nor a 2nd and prospect.

I totally forgot he would be a rental... but a team paid a 1st for ben chariot last year and Gavrikov this year so who knows

We paid a first for Gavrikov because he brought a starting goalie with him.

Plus, you have to remember that having traded that first for him, that 2023 second is now our first pick in this year's draft.

don't think DeMelo gets a 1st back, Luke Schenn is a good comp and he only got a 3rd at the deadline.

I understand your view on starting from scratch... but in my opinion, that doesn't usually work the best, and definitely in this market. We have good young prospects that are going to be big pieces of the future and we need to surround them with some players to look up to. With these trades, you are already adding more than enough assets that could be flipped to get this thing turned around in the next 2-3 years. My view is a quick 2-3 year retool is the best route. We have the prospects, and young players, and will have assets from the trades to turn it around quickly. I like the STL model (or at least what it sounds like they are doing) in acquiring picks, for your aging players and players that won't be a part of the next core, and flipping for younger players.

DeMelo would be moved at the deadline (so would Wheeler) for sure, as I said above. I would be open to moving him earlier but I like what I have seen from a Samberg-DeMelo pair in the limited sample and would like to give them a run early in the year to help groom Samberg into a true top4.

DeMelo is the reason Morrissey is having a Norris-type season. Look into some of his advanced stats. He is like what Devon Towes is to Cale Makar, he makes his partner better.

I am just going off past rental value. I know that a top 4, physical, affordable D costs more than a 2nd.

They we're not going to , what changed right ?
MSL took over and switched Chiarot to Right Defense for the first time
Chiarot scored 9 pts in 9 games averaging 25 minutes then the CGY deal was abandoned for FLA who came in with a late offer.
Rumor is CGY had put up two 2nd round picks and a prospect which MTL was close to accepting

    Why does this matter?
No Coaching change no 9 game point streaks for both him and Lehkonen in their final 9 games and first 9 under MSL.
Before you argue its doubtful Coaching could impact that much Caufield went from 8 in 34 , then 25 in his first 21 under MSL
Suzuki had 20 in 21 games , Anderson had 16 in 21 games , tons of players including Petry turned their games around . Petry gets smack talked but under MSL 21pts in 32 games i believe it was

Both Lehkonen and Chiarot should just got us Quantity not Quantity and Quality

Chiarot isnt an Analytics darling but anyone who see's the positions his coaches put him in knows its done for a reason..
MSL made all the difference and all because Hughes made the right call to replace his coach before the TDL.

Your GM nor your coach could even get the best out of Kovacevic
I cant believe you'll get the best out of an again Veteran who is what he is .
Manson >Dillion and got what i find to be a realitively fair return for Dillion

I’m just thinking that Connor and ehlers may want out in a year and 2 when the contract come close, so trading now may get value into 25 and try to have an abundance of picks in top 3 rounds for 3 years. Just believe you need a top 5 pick to bring a cup and you only get that with a bottom out. Veteran guys can be acquired to lead them the right way, still have morrissey Schmidt, and Lowry to try to transition. Possibly some short term veteran cap dumps also. I would attempt an ottawa type rebuild and hope that an acquiring teams first end up in lottery possibly. But ya the organization would not be keen on my strategy.

I get he's been lights out for 8 games but let's be real Korpisalo had very little value at the deadline and the only reason he was traded and is now the starter is because a career .904, 37 game career high backup goalie was somehow the least bad option for the Kings to roll the dice on. You didn't pay for a starting goaltender. You payed the first for Gavrikov (who by all indications has been worth it thus far) and to dump Quick. Korpisalo was a gamble that has (for the moment) payed off.

No from Boston. Cap space is non existent. They have to shed as it is. Can’t afford to give up young cheap players either.

What are you thinking? We could take on a contract or 2. It could be lysell, bussi, and Mike reilly.

I’m thinking Bergy or DK comes back and they don’t need a center. If both retire maybe they do something, maybe they don’t. Don’t see it being MS.

No thanks on MS55. He'll have 1yr left on his deal before becoming a UFA and he's not great in the dot (something Boston prides itself on). There are also to many red flag for me with MS55. First why would a team want to trade a guy who over the last 3 years has been playing at a 36G/80P pace for 82 games? This guys been floating around the rumor mill what feels like for 3 years now. He seems like he's part of the problem in WPG and has a "ME" attitude when it comes to thing. Boston is known for its culture and MS55 is the poster boy of everything the Bruins culture isn't.
