Not that high on Trenin, would rather keep the 2 players.
Jake trade is interesting, but long-term, dont know if COL can afford it.
Dont think Rust waives for Canada.
MIN passes.
ARZ probably wants assets with Rutta. Dont think they are the right team.

NSH declines. No room on their blueline for POJ, no interest in Nylander.

Pittsburgh should re build, they should not re tool or buy out contracts to sign contracts they'll buy out the following 2 seasons, re build time, that means everyone not named Crosby, Malkin and Letang sold to the highest bidder

I agree 1000%. But I did this assuming that they won't. What do you think the chances are that we rebuild this offseason? I really hope we would, it's so clear the window is closed. Just the cycle of life for a great NHL team

It really depends how the front office shakes out, if the rumours are true and Pittsburgh grabs Dubus it's a rebuild of the team, the scouting department the whole thing, if they go with a Trevling (I think he's a good fit) it'll be tinkering for a season than a rebuild

Minnesota isn't giving up a 3rd round pick to retain, nor add a worse backup . Fleury helps Gustavsson, something Casey won't. You have add on wrong side

Welcome to the dark side lol.

In my opinion Trenin is a dime a dozen - don't like giving up a good young defenseman for him. Even if the value is fair in the COL trade - that seems exactly like a rebuilding move, no? Personally would rather have Rust at his cap hit than Boeser at his. Rust's versatility helps a lot. Not the biggest fan of getting an older, worse, more expensive goalie - but at least you have the pick going the correct way. I'd take the Rutta trade for sure. Buying out Petry just to sign Dumba seems like a waste. You're essentially paying Dumba 8.75 mil when you could just have Petry for 6.25. Big elephant in the room Jeff Carter too don't forget. Can't just throw him on LTIR.

I'd still take Kane though - and like Engvall as well

Yeah I agree, completely depends who is hired for GM. But I think worst case it will be a year of trying to fix stuff then rebuild. I cannot imagine many GM's coming in and thinking they can fix this roster in a season. And it sounds like our ownership is content to hire the best people then leave them fully in charge. I'd imagine a good amount of GM candidates, especially one like Dubas, would rebuild

Avs won't give up that much for a wing, even if it's a good one. They ready have those roles filled for a long time to comr. If they're making a big trade for a forward, it's gotta be a 2C.

I think Kane makes sense just based on the fact we could get him for a much lower term. Boeser move I was just thinking cause it's only 2 years. I agree, would rather have Rust if it was also a 2 year contract, but for 5 more years I think has the potential to be really really rough.

Realistically I think they'll probably get Kuznestov

It's possible. Colorado and Washington have partnered up a fair amount of times.

Agreed - I have no issues going after Kane. I figured that's what you were going for with Boeser - it makes sense. My thought was they're going to suck after 2 years anyways most likely - so save the extra money now. Either way - Rust most likely blocks the trade I guess.

Can’t see the Canucks moving Boeser for another winger making as much as Rust does. Two reasons they’d want to move Boeser is to clear the logjam we have on the wing and to clear cap space, this doesn’t really help with that

Canucks decline. Value is at least close, but doesn't fit the Canucks needs. If the Canucks move a guy like Boeser or Garland, it is to clear cap and help ease the logjam of wingers we have. Acquiring Rust makes the cap clearance minimal while not solving our wingers logjam. Canucks are also looking for young players under 26 to fit their window, Rust does not fall into that category.

Seconded plus cap considerations.
