I don't mind taking Murray for that but if I do I'm buying him out and signing a different back up. He can't stay on the ice and Husso can't handle a big workload. Please no to the Rd at 9.

Moore please.
Use whatever picks we have and find a way to draft Pellikka or Reinbacher.

If we manage to come out with Moore/Cristall or Reinbacher/Pellikka, I think our team becomes cup contenders in 4 years.

Nope, we aren’t moving our first this draft and certainly not to dump Petry

I love Petry's situation. Yes he's pricey, but it just makes getting his first easier. If he's waiving his NMC anywhere it'll be Detroit. If we get him and the first, we have a bridge defenseman and his replacement. As for Murray; more picks!

You shouldn't, but idk if the next gm will be able to resist the bad idea of a final hurrah.

A $6M cap dump to move up 11 spots. Petry isn't good and has a cap hit over $6M for 2 seasons so take out the 2nd or Lindstrom or both.

He's not that bad. He'd be a servicable bridge defenseman. But we would need to draft his replacement this year.

Lindstrom was good a season ago so most likely suffering from the sophomore slump. There are much better options out there that don't come with a $6M+ cap hit besides Pittsburgh isn't trading that pick

If you add Lindstrom to a Petry trade you now have Chiarot and Petry on the right side and that is scary.

Vs Chiarot and Lindstrom?

I take Chiarot and Petry 6/10. I'm not happy about it, but I'll be excited in two years when we have a phenomenal and young defensive core.

Have noticed some fans not wanting a RD at 9. Is it solely due to trading Hronek for 18? Certainly would hope the guy we draft would be better than Hronek, there are reasons we traded him - namely defensive play and timeline. Fair if you just love a guy like Moore and want him at 9, but building that d core to be our strength is the Yzerplan and Asp and Reinbacher will be gone by 11

In a draft this deep there won't be a drop-off between the Boston 1st and Canucks 2nd. There's nothing in it for Detroit. We're essentially doing the Leafs a favour by taking Murray. Yzerman isn't being paid by the Leafs to be their GM.

More likely a draft day trade for that reason, there’s always guys that gms like more than others and don’t think will be there by their next selection

I'll buy that. We've seen Stevie move up if he likes a player like he did with Cossa.

As much as I think our team needs a RD; we need a top liner to go with Larkin and Raymond. Kasper was drafted to be a 2C (and he's going to be a great 2C). Moore would be a fantastic pick. If we get Pittsburgh's pick, I think we could see 14OA+ for ~11OA + some other adds to ensure Pellikka or Reinbacher.

I personally think that the pure offensive talent that alot of these players are demonstrating is too much to pass up with both picks. We are really lacking in that category. I also feel like if we grab a couple RHD with those seconds that we should be alright going forward. It's not ideal that's for sure. Also, I know it's early to tell and not the best for development purposes, there are a few good looking RHD in the 2024 draft and we right now have two picks. I honestly feel like Arizona should draft Reinbacher, they have drafted quite a few top forwards the last few years and they really need some defence. Then with ASP, he's smaller than we have seen Yzermam draft defencemen do he might not want him. I would only take him with our second first if he's still there. My list of wants, not including the top 4 and Reinbacher, are Smith, Moore, Barlow, Leonard, Yager and I don't even know anymore lol.

Also in the range of our second rounders are a couple interesting RHD in Bonk, Willander (awesome name), Strbak, Allen and maybe Dragicevic.

I like a lot forward prospects more than Reinbacker and sandin-pillikka is all. I'm not opposed to Rd as much as I'm just a bigger fan of other guys. Yeah trading Hronek and using a top ten pick to replace him I dont love but it's not really the reason. I get the reason for trading him even if I don't agree with the move.
