Why is Minnesota paying that for Raddysh?

I think if the Hawks can get a 1st for Raddysh in some capacity its a win. I don't know much about Firstov but cant be too good that he signed his ELC and then went back to Russia, but I suppose if he wants to come over with Safonov in a year that's fine with me.

Hawks leading goal scorer for LESS than the league minimum and RFA status.

They wouldn’t. It’s a joke. They’d have to drop the 1st from the package. Maybe get a 3rd instead. But that’s about it. Raddysh has similar production to sam steel…… so shrugs. Maybe a hockey trade would be appropriate

It wouldn't be appropriate in the least bit and their production is not similar. Raddysh is a 20 goal scorer on a team that can't score. What do you think he could do on a team that actually has offensive talent? His value comes from his offensive production, namely his goal scoring prowess, coupled with his cap hit and expiry status. The idea is that CHI doesn't want to move him. So, if teams want him that is what they will have to pay, if they don't want to pay it CHI should be more than happy to just keep him around, I know I would be.

And San Steel is a RFA with arbitration rights who will be looking for a deal that pays 2-2.5 per year which a team with 15 million in dead cap can't afford. TRad is the exact combo of minimum contract and production that cap strapped contenders have paid a first for. Firstov is a wildcard throw away of a guy that ran back to the motherland the first time something didn't go his way.

I understand not wanting to give up a first round pick for TRad. I also think the Hawks and Wild make interesting trade partners in that the Hawks have a number of league minimum players that can help and the Wild have a deep prospect pool of guys that are still several years away. Hawks have mid 20's pieces like TRad, Katchouk, and Roos that can all play at minimum cap while the Wild can offer early 20's guys like Spacek, Bankier, and 2nd round picks to make a trade package of 2 or 3 pieces per side that would be win win for both. Hawks can reset some older pieces for younger to allign better with when they should start to turn things around. Wild can grab several players at minimum to fill out a roster that otherwise gets real challenging. I think a deal of TRad, Katchouck, and Roos for Spacek, Bankier, and a 2nd would be a win for both sides with where they are currently at. Wild get 3 pieces that help now at minimum cap without giving up a 1st rounder (or 1st round equivalent prospect) . Hawks get younger and add 3 pieces to the rebuild that you expect 1 to be a helpful NHL piece in a few years and hope for a couple.

I don’t think that’s the compliment you think it is. When the Wild were a non-playoff team they had Brodziak score 20+ because he played way above where he should have been.

Minnesota is not going to fund your rebuild. I’d imagine the most offered would be a 2nd for Raddysh

Its certainly not the same as making that statement for a good team. 100% agreed on that! The best of the worst isn't always clear. There are a lot of reasons he's with alot. Tanner Jeannot set the approximate price. Even if the Hawks need to wait until the TDL (which they should...thats when picks are discounted and players maximize value) they need to maximize his value. The Hawks are really high on him and don't need to move him. We're in a cap constrained environment which certainly ups his value. His underlying metrics are quite supportive to him generating the scoring vs being the recipient. The prices for these cost controlled physical goal scorers is ALOT. That's just how the market is right now.

Likewise the Hawks are not going to fund your cap resolutions for values less than market. TRad is not a late 2nd value. If the Wild don't value him higher, the Hawks shop him to other cap strapped teams or hang on to him to the deadline.

This year will probably be the last opportunity to get that kind of deal for quite a while, though. At least until the cap increases start to taper off back to normal. But, after this year when the cap starts jumping up, teams that already have their core locked up won't be too worried about 'cost benefit analysis'. Especially a team like MIN who are going to be in a GREAT financial position when the Parise and Suter buyouts fall off significantly in two years.

Regardless, if a team wants him, they'll have to pay the price, if not, no big deal because CHI should be more than happy keeping him around. If nothing else he could be a top 9 floater that will be a scoring threat on any line, and he is still young enough to be a part of CHI's future. Even if he is on the older side when CHI really gets rolling. As long as he takes care of his body, he should be fine, and he won't have the miles on him that other older guys might playing on playoff teams every year.

He doesn’t really solve our cap problems outside of 1 year. He’s a RFA after next season. We have the $14.7M dead cap for two years.

To pay a 1st for one year of help on a player that’s probably a third liner on a playoff team is insane. Not to mention his points would likely drop because he wouldn’t replace any of Eriksson Ek-Boldy-Kaprizov-Zuccarello on the top power play unit.

Also, to the other posters who brought up Jeannot, just because Tampa Bay paid a stupid price for someone at the trade deadline doesn’t mean that anyone else is going to pay anywhere near that. They are in “win now at all costs” mode. There are just a few teams in that mode.

I fully expect Chicago to keep Raddysh if these high prices are what they are expecting.

While the 14.7 penalty is 2 years, the acute problem at this point is year one...this Summer. Cap is expected to go up a decent chunk next Summer and Zuc, Foligno, Fleury, and Goli all come off the books so there is absolutely no reason TRad can not be a multi year option. While you hope a late first can turn into a 2nd liner, there is a decent chance it does not even turn into a player as good as TRad and that is 3 or 4 years out. I probably would not pay a 1st either, but I think a 2nd Spacek and Bankier would be a fair price for TRad, Kachouck, and Roos (a scaled down version could be a 2nd and Spacek for TRad and Kachouck). Tampa paid a stupid price for a 1/4er of a season of Jeannot before he became a RFA, TRad is a full season of cheap before RFA.

Any deal that starts with Spacek for Raddysh is an instant no. Spacek isn’t available. Management loves him and he will get a chance to play top pair in the AHL and maybe get a call up this upcoming season. And if I was GM, I wouldn't have any interest in Katchouk or Roos.
