That bottom 6 is not good enough. They are 1 injury away from being a complete mess on forward. AGAIN. You need 3 upgrades in that bottom 6. Gambrell and Kastelnic are AHLer's. Gauthier is a fringe NHLer. Sokolov could be an NHLer. Having one of those guys on your opening roster is fine. 2 is pushing it. All 4 is insanity.

That d corp would be spicy though. That's for sure. But realistically use that Tanev money on bottom 6 forwards.

That's a shame too. He was great for OTT at the end of last season when he was traded there, but then just disappeared this season. But yeah, CHI doesn't have any genuine interest in him, making him a pure cap move, and one that costs significantly more than a 4th. I think OTT should put some faith back in him, he could be successful if utilized properly under the right coach. But we'll see.

Tanev is too expensive for him to only play on our third D pair. We also need a better 3rd line the third line is so important in the playoffs we cannot have 3 rookies together for that. ID go get a Colton or buqstad or Fast to play on pinto's right side.

Sokolov will probably start on the 4th line or play when someone is injured.

I do not like Vladar IMO he's never been average. We need a goalie like Hart or Hill.

Ya I agree with you guys. Haven't followed Ottawa close enough to know. Fast would be a great add. I think there could be some effective bargain bottom 6 guys in FA to make it work or move a late pick or two.

This trade is interesting. Slight alteration.. keep JBD and Calgary gets to keep their 2 picks. A third team in need of a top 4 RHD picks up Tanev for a second and third round pick (not sure of his worth). We keep Joseph who will rebound. He played so well in his last few games and I believe he was hurt and played earlier in the year.
Now lets talk depth... Kastelic is an NHL player (if you do not think so take the time to watch him play). Plays a hard game and has decent hands. Gambrell is at best a 13th forward. Sokolov has to earn a spot however he looked better at the end of the season. The other player who may take that last spot is Ostapchuk. For a young guy he plays a very mature defensive game. His time is coming soon.
