This fixes the defense IMO. Would be able to compete for a playoff spot if Elvis can step back up to what he was 2-3 years ago.

That package would be good enough for Hanafin, but there is not nearly enough value for Lindholm.

2nd - deal. 3rd you are decent prospect.

That might get you Elias. Maybe. Definitely not both.

And honestly, I'd seriously considering doing it for just Hanifin. Or maybe Hanifin+Vladar.

Do we need Vladar tho? Feel like if we do that Tarasov may get claimed off waivers if we send him down.

Maybe the 3rd/4th + Foudy (A good young depth player on a very cheap cap hit)

If Vladar can be sent to Cleveland, then he can come right back to Columbus when inevitably Tarasov and Elvis get hurt. They'll need a third goalie if only for that.

I don't see Vladar getting through waivers either. Can we send Elvis to Cleveland? Lol, he's the only one that I can see getting through.

lol, technically we could. His contract doesn't have a NMC, just a M-NTC.

Prob not.

They’ll trade Grizz for market value. Otherwise they keep him.

They’ll tade/dump/buyout Reilly & Forbort for cap space.

You want a cheap deal. Forbort for our 5th back. Reilly for free. Grizz you have to make a legit deal. 🤷🏻‍♂️

That's fair. Def no on Reilly, could see us go for Forbort.

I am nervous about trying to get both Hanifin and Lindholm because I feel like it might lock us into a funky salary cap picture going forward and they'll likely command 8 year deals or threaten to walk to UFA. Then we're having to use bridge contracts on players (Kent Johnson, Kirill Marchenko, David Jiricek eventually) who we would much rather try to lock in long term. We're okay with doing that if we have a window open but this would be the trade we're hoping opens the window. It's probably a risk worth taking.

D corps is good, and that is market value for Gryzelcyk for a Boston team with no leverage. The only weakness is the lack of PK experience. We're asking Hanifin/Grzelcyk to take big PK minutes and Jiricek/Boqvist.

For that reason, Forbot might fit us better here. Also trading Boqvist in place of Peeke would shore up that concern (I like Boqvist more than Peeke but have to admit that I don't see a strong future for either on our roster). Otherwise, we're asking Jiricek to jump into that role immediately or having a lefty play offside on the PK. If we want Jiricek to play first pairing minutes, other special teams might be a bit too much to ask in a first year. Hanifin PKed in Calgary but his numbers weren't anything crazy.

I kind of like the idea of a sheltered 3rd pair of Forbort, Gudbranson bringing most of their value on the PK while we wait for Jiricek to develop into a PKer. Then as they are expiring we can work Mateychuk and Svozil into the roster.

I don't think it's a bad deal for both (Hanifin + Lindholm). If you use Miller/McDonagh deal as a template, Cole Sillinger is the better than any asset Tampa gave up. Roslovic is more game ready. Might need to add another 2nd but it's a good match for what Calgary would theoretically want. It's made difficult by the fact that Calgary has new management and those players aren't necessarily incentivized to leave. A lot of GM's don't like to make major moves as soon as they arrive too.

Maybe CBJ makes a deadline run or offseason run at one of them depending on how our respective seasons turn out.

I think with the cap going up greatly after next season we could fit extensions for both Hanifin and Lindholm... especially if you take into account buying out Gudbranson if we have to and saving 3mil in cap space after this season. Even if we had to give up more on top of this we could add a protected 2024 1st. It all depends if Calgary wants to retool AND Lindholm wants out. Calgary def can lose one of their LDs and be okay so Hanifin is definitely a possibility. This is a type of trade that officially opens our cup window for the next 3 seasons or even longer if our prospects develop as they should.
