Trade Up to 4oa Read Description

Created by: dtd_tank

Initial Creation Date: May 26, 2023
Published: May 26, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Looking to move a package of picks/prospects/young players in exchange for 4oa. Was suggested to trade with SJ rather than trade with ARZ by another user based on Grier's past comments and approach with the Meier trade.

This is just a starting point. Looking for feedback from SJ fans :)

Don't think anyone is trading out of the top 4 for a collection of stuff

You didn't even include your own pick!

if youre trading up, youre using your own pick, not a chance its the Isles pick. And youd have to add quite a bit on top of 9 to get to 4

    Probably would be 9OA + Mazur + 3rd.

Top 5 picks are rarely traded. It’s going to take a massive overpay to get 4OA. Think 9OA and kasper

This is why I asked, because someone else on here suggested that SJ would potentially be in favor of a "quantity for quality" trade to start off this build for them...

You need to swap the 17th for the 9th, Sorry but the 17th+41st+73rd along with Zadina and Soderblom doesn't move you up 13 spots in a very deep draft. Even the 9th+41st+73rd along with Zadina and Soderblom doesn't get it done. Yzerman said at the presser that we need to get bigger and stronger in our top 12. So we're not trading away Soderblom.

I considered doing Berggren rather than Soda.

I do think SJ needs quantity of picks and prospects since their pool is pretty dry but I doubt they would trade 4OA. It might make sense for them to trade back for their other picks in the draft

Leo Carlsson probably goes to Columbus at 3rd overall, Will Smith will play at least 2 years at Boston College so you're probably looking at closer to 3 years before he's ready. We can draft anyone within our 9th and 17th pick and basically get the same results. I'd pass just way too expensive.

You want 4 OA it starts with both 1sts Detroit holds this year. And if Carlsson is there San Jose isn’t moving the pick

Not a chance. Grier said it would take a ‘significant offer’ to trade back. Make it Berggren, 9OA and a 2nd to be realistic here.

Eklund, Havelid, Bystedt, Mukhamadullin, Bordeleau, 3 picks in the top 34 this year. Yeah we arent doing this deal and the pool is far from dry.

I don't think SK101 was trying to be rude here, so no need to take offense. SJ's pool was rated 17th best in the NHL at the start of this year by The Athletic, with only one player rated in the top 50 prospects (Eklund at 23). I don't think SK is wrong in saying that SJ could certainly benefit from having a few additional pieces from Detroit's 4th ranked pool.

Won't happen with what you offered.

    9 + 17 + all 3 2nds is closer

This is probably about the only way to get San Jose to let go of 4th...And I would never trade all 5 picks for 1...
I would take 5 very good players over 1 great player all day every day. Hockey is a team game.

If were being frank, and we are, Zadina is not a prospect, Detroit ruined his development in every way possible. Soderblom is certainly decent but would fall quite below Eklund, Bords, Bystedt and Gushchin. So no, this deal needs serious tweaks and if were in such dire need of Detroits “help” wh6 are we moving Will Smith or Leo Carlsson for inferior picks a C prospect and a total bust? Stop contradicting yourself.
