Hawks decline.

You're better off buying Mantha out. He has negative value so your options are buyout or add a sweetner to dump him. Either way, you're not getting value back in any trade.

Really, I feel like it could be a great spot. Yes Kuzy is a roller coaster, but he has the elite skill to compliment all of the Ducks young talent. Plus if he plays good you sell him at a deadline

I am blown away by the lack of interest Chicago fans have in brining in players with skill. I know Mantha has struggled, but he has skill to play with Bedard and size to protect him. Look at what the Penguins did with Crosby, you need dudes, you DON'T have dudes

It seems to be no self awareness day on how bad Mantha and his contract is. Teams don't pay 3rd rounders to acquire guys that play 60ish games and put up 25ish points a year making 6.5 million, they get a decent 2nd round pick to take the deal or you are stuck with it.

Not really space for him plus we did the whole vetting thing on Klingberg and we know how that went so I’m not sure we gamble on that again

Its one thing to bring in players. It's another to give up draft capital for an underachieving and overpaid winger. If we wanted a winger with skill, Boeser is on the block and has produced better and has an extra year on his contract.

Lol....he is actually 24 goal scorer if we are talking his last 3 season combined as a Cap, unless you mean like 5 season ago like the one and only time he got to 25.

We have plenty of dudes. We don't need to be sending out futures for cap dumps.

We already have too many Centers and we want to give the young talent reps at that position. We have the cap space to park his salary, but not the room on the roster. We're also not inclined to give up assets to acquire players over the age of 30.

So you think Mantha is valuable at $5.7M (he's not) and further that a rebuilding team should give up a valuable draft pick to acquire 1 year rentals? I'm blown away at the people on here that don't understand why rebuilding teams don't give up draft picks let alone for rentals who are cap dumps.

Because you are gonna screw the first 2-3 years of Bedard's development if the best player he sees around him is Tyler Johnson. Chicago is a unique rebuild now, they aren't a rebuild, they are a build around. How do you build around Bedard, who do you bring in to make him successful. I all but guarantee you will be disappointed in this offseason because your GM is thinking the right way, we are getting a once in a life time talent, we can't f this up.

No, the Hawks are not and no teams are paying for other team's cap dumps...full stop which is what you have here....never happens and won't here.

Reichel is a stud, he will play alongside Bedard. Further, the Hawks will open their doors to teams willing to pay them to take cap dumps such as Boeser, Granlund, Garland, Mantha, etc. but the other teams will pay the Hawks for taking their cap dumps not the other way around full stop.

There is also this other thing called free agency by the way

Becasue the Hawks can go into free agency and spend 6.5 million on a 50-60 point player that you can have a reasonable expectation of that player playing 75+ games. I would give Killorn Mantha's 6.5 and do it for 2 years before I ever consider taking Mantha with a 3rd much less for a 3rd.

Well, first off, this is Lukas Reichel slander and secondly it’s 100% still a rebuild. You’re putting the cart before the horse. There’s still a lot of work to be done. Davidson will make sure Bedard has talent around him, but it won’t be through trading away draft capital (unless it’s a literally steal of a trade). There’s enough skilled players that can be found in either cap dumps or UFA that he can look to.

We're going to do MUCH worse when Mantha sits on the bench and doesn't play. He's not even good at hockey when he's on the ice AND he's not physical. How is that piece of glass going to protect Bedard?

WAS played him ATOI 14:13 with reduced ice time EVERY year he was there. Why on earth are other teams supposed to value him SOO much more than WAS? Doesn't make any sense.

There are a ton more teams looking to dump cap/salary too. Toronto, Boston, NY Islanders, NY Rangers...heck if we're desperate to get to the floor (which were not) let's just get Seabs back! WAY too many solutions out there for us to give away our cap space and draft capital.

100%! This trade idea is in no way shape or form logical or defensible
