The premise here is that it is some combo OF those pieces, not all, right? Can you specify what combo exactly to get better feedback?

Like
Player A - 10
Pick A - 10
Player B - 9
etc, etc

and Ottawa needs X value to move him.

That would help foster a discussion.

yes those are the pieces i see that match the sens needs tbh. Any prospect or young player that can be penciled in the lineup on opening day and a 1st round pick.

I just edited my reply with what I think could be a good discussion starter context

I think Detroit would be hesitant to move any of those players in any trade for Cat. If I am Yzerman my best offer is 17, 2023 2nd and one of Zadina, Veleno, Johansson, McIsaac. Probably not the best offer they receive but I don't think Cat is a great fit in Detroit. He is going to cost too much and is a little too small for playoff hockey IMO.

Awesome. Now we can stop having Cat to STL trades. I love it.

Nashville has more quality pieces to offer Ottawa than the other teams you have listed here IMO.

And you can cross Detroit and Florida off because they are in the same division.

youre looking at it wrong imo, you put Cat on your 1st line with Larkin and focus on the middle 6 being very good , tough to play against and size

I get that he can score but he has been wildly inconsistent over his career and I don't like the idea of paying a guy 9 million + to play that kind of role. Give him the caufield contract and I can tolerate it but not at the price he is going to demand.

Logistically, I don’t think the VGK make much sense as trade partners.

That said, if a trade like that were even considered, OTT would probably get Smith and Karlsson back, for cap reasons.

However, like I said, VGK don’t consider it — such a trade would tear the locker room apart for a gain that isn’t worth the pain.

I don’t think he gets more than 8 x 8 anyways

For the Predators, I think Saros would be the player sent out the door, probably closer to 1 for 1 than some think.

He has single-handedly drug the Preds into or to the doorstep of a playoff berth every year he’s been the starter, and he doesn’t fit the team’s timeline like Askarov does.

I agree they should move him. I’d be willing to add to Cat to make it happen

I’m just hoping Barry Trotz rips the Band-Aid off at the draft. Nashville has been too mediocre for too long.

Sure, but I agree with rednwhite that it's too much for Detroit to give up for Cat. Not that Cat's not worth it, but OTT also doesn't really have much power here to pick and choose where he goes, which limits the value they can get for him.

Of the list provided, the only player I'd remotely consider is Soderblom. But I'm not sure if I pull the trigger unless we keep the 1st, which OTT doesn't accept.

I’d prefer trading to a Western conference team. If DET wants in, I’d hope Dorion fleeces them. We don’t need him in our division.

From a NSH fan, I'm not opposed to moving Saros, even if it is somewhere close to a 1-1 for Cat assuming he is willing to sign long-term with NSH. That said wingers are not NSH's problem especially if we want to look 2-4 years out when Askarov makes the move up. By that time most of our top forward prospects will be coming into their own and making the move up like L'Heureux & Kemell, with Evangelista already looking like he has made the jump. NSH needs centers more than anything and that is what Trotz is looking for.
