Ohhh no. Canes pass. Not trading two good roster players for a guy who refuses to stay and Pionk who isn’t a fit.

PLD isn't signing with Carolina.

And fat chance of Connor Hellebuyck going to Columbus, He'd come home to Detroit before going to Columbus. Whom was the worst team by far in the NHL this year.

And this team isn't a playoff team.

FYI Ros already forced himself out of Winnipeg. Fat chance he goes back.

Canes pass. Dubois for Necas, fine. Necas is younger, and outproduced Dubois. He's got an extra year, all that good stuff. The spare parts don't get Pesce. If you swap Pesce with Coghlan, Carolina probably does it. But you'd need something like the 1st and Barron on top of this for Pesce. Pionk is a cap dump coming the other way because the Canes would have no interest so I am factoring in that too, I might be acting a little harshly, but I still think this gets shot down instantly. It's like if the Canes offered Zion Nybeck, Martin Necas, Jake Gardiner, a 3rd and a 5th for Dubois and I'm going to say Ehlers, but this is because Winnipeg's defense really doesn't have anyone similar in value to Pesce.

If the Jets are retooling, I don't think overpaying for lesser players is the way to go.

I understand that Pionk isn't a fit but it bugs me on these Dubois trades when someone posts a trade and says "dependent on an extension" and then there is always like 3 comments saying we don't want a guy who won't stay. THESE ARE MOCK TRADES SO PART OF THEM ARE EXTENSIONS THAT MIGHT NOT HAPPEN IN REAL LIFE

Jackets are probably gonna give it one more year with Elvis. They've pretty much isolated him as the only remaining variable so if he's bad this year then they'll know he just doesn't have it anymore. Should be at least a bit easier to move him with 3 years left instead of 4 too.

Fair enough, where do you rank pesce on that d Core (I am jealous of a defence that boasts burns, pesce, slavin, skjei as a top four) reminds me of those couple years when the jets had buff, trouba, Myers, Morrisey, chariot, and kulikov

PLD isn’t getting maximum return because he doesn’t want to stay in Winnipeg. Winnipeg doesn’t have any leverage here

No Carolina fans aren't that mean, they might just throw pebbles but not commit homicide. If we were talking about habs fans its a different story

Pesce's easily number 2. He's more valuable than Burns because they've proven somewhat easily that OFD are a dime a dozen. They accidentally proved that with Skjei this year which was comical. Genuine shutdown defensemen like Slavin and Pesce are so much harder to find. During the dead puck era, the saying The hardest thing in the league is to score goals came to light, but in the modern game, it's far more difficult to stop them. It's why teams like the Islanders and Hurricanes who are built on defense are consistent in their playoff performances.

I don't see CBJ going full out for a #1 goalie until Babcock gets to see if Elvis looks good to him.

Babs systems should get this team(along with the dmen acquired) running a much more defensive game and blocking shots like crazy. Much like torts ran his team here, which Elvis looked great on.

I can agree with that, obviously pesce and slavin are much better but Demelo is similar, also the reason why I can't stand Pionk and think even though Morrissey was excellent this year he gave up wayyyyyy to much going the other way. I hate that people still think the best dman needs to put up 70 plus points. I would much rather take 30-35 pts and have an elite 2 way game.

5 year extension is literally the least likely for the main RFAs - inclusive of PLD. 2-3 or 7-8 are the most likely. Canes would part with Necas if PLD were to agree to a decent AAV number.

AFD Analytics has PLD long term at 8 x $7.5m, Canes would be good with that. They likely also be good with something like 3 x $8.5m. Not 5 years

If WPG is retooling, you deal Scheifle, Hellebuyck, Wheeler, obviously Dubois, Dillon, DeMelo (maybe Pionk if DeMelo is willing to resign), and the rest of their extra Dman like Heinola and Stanley.

Bring in guys with term like Hayes, Sanheim, one of the NYI C (think Pageau or Nelson may be available for a RD). In net bring in Vladar as the back up, and depending on where Hellebuyck is dealt, they could maybe get a starting goalie in the trade or sign a guy. Targeting RFAs like Necas eligible for extensions would also be good.

Not sure where Scheifle could be dealt in a hockey trade, but Hellebuyck could maybe be dealt to Toronto for Samsonov+futures, Dubois for Necas+futures, RD for Nelson/Pageau. Dillon+Heinola+futures for Hayes+Sanheim.

I could see Roslovic being fine with coming back if he was assured he wasn't going to be used as a bottom six winger.

I actually like the looks of this team, way more balanced and the defense is better though the Canes aren't trading Pesce.

Are the trades realistic, probably not to be honest but if we did somehow get Cbus's 2nd we shouldn't trade it for Granlund, wouldn't mind adding him as I think he'd rebound but he's not worth giving a very early 2nd for, guess we are foisting that epic clown 🤡 Wheeler on them though.

If I am the Jackets I do this. It is steep and could backfire but it isn’t the worst thing. Hellebuyck would certainly be an upgrade. Even if he doesn’t re-sign it does open more cap space and the ability to elevate Tarasov or dip into FA next summer. I do this if I am the Jackets.

Im kinda on the fence about it. Ultimately I don't think the Jackets do it because it probably costs about the same or less next year to dump Elvis with the cap increase, but there's still the chance that he bounces back this year which allows them to keep their assets.

I'm a Jets fan and I'd be cool with this return but I hope the Jackets wouldn't do this, Helle isn't worth it.

Yeah but this team needs to start winning. If the team is better with Hellebuyck in the net you do it. The price is steep but if it doesn’t work out the Jackets would have the cap room to address that next summer. I can’t see Jarmo passing up that opportunity if it presents itself. But I only think it happens after July 1 so they can talk extension with him. Jarmo doesn’t give up that without a realistic expectation of signing him.
