Not debating about you if moving down or up is a good move the for hawks, but it was reported they wanted to move up, and Murphy has value why keep him on a ****ting team while you could trade him and just sign a veteran. There are a lot of Vet dman that would sign if the price was right, not to mention your getting Myers back in that trade who is a vet. https://thehockeywriters.com/blackhawks-murphy-trade-up-2023-draft/
I agree with what you're saying. Kyle Davidson himself (Hawks GM) Came out a few weeks ago stating that they were exploring A.) taking on dumps and B.) seeing what it would take to move into the top 15. Since then he's come out and sang a bit of a different tune and it's assumed (assume broken down is "making an
ass out of
u and
me") he received a bunch of low ball offers because teams wrongfully took that as the Hawks would have a hard time reaching the cap floor...time to shed our crap for free. That's not the case. He's since come out and said.
“I have no concern about getting to the cap floor; that’s going to happen with general ease,”
"If you’re sitting there at 19 and there’s 5 guys you like, maybe you look to move back because you can get one of those guys...and keep banking assets. To say we’re just going to move up, that’s probably premature."
I'd keep Murphy on the team because he helps their prospects grow into NHLers. That's just player development.
