Maybe we should think what the Canes would sign Pesce for

I don't think that Pesce is going to leave unless the Hurricanes are absolutely unreasonable so I think these kinds of Armchair GMs are absolutely premature

With Retention on Kuznetsov that package isn’t going to be good enough. The Capitals have several Reese Jamieson equivalents already and the 1st is Late. This doesn’t do much for the Capitals

Olofsson at full cap hit is a negative asset and a very bad fit

Bad enough seeing the same trades over and over from dozens of Buffalo and Edmonton fans, but watching our own fanbase mimic it is just surreal. Here' a creative departure. Pretend half the teams in the league would be interested and craft some proposals with more preferred trade partners who can get us something we need most. You're acting as if the only teams we can deal with are the two who happened to be called out by hockey media as having interest. We've seen these trades a million times. Not what we need. Feel free to explore the room.

Well, their Owner has a reputation for drawing the line, no matter who the player(s) is. We'll see how much they want Skjei and Pesce back as a pair (where each will have to be re-signed cheaply), if they pick a favorite of the two and trade the other or if both get overpriced and won't extend.....in a way, it could be pitting Pesce's agent and camp against Skjei's agent and camp on who's worth more and ultimately forces the Canes' hand.

I still think given the mood of Pesce towards the Hurricanes that it's highly unlikely that they don't end up getting an extension done... Pesce and Skjei will probably both end up getting match deals in the $6-6.5m range for about 4-5 years. That way they can get their pay raise meanwhile the Hurricanes still have enough cap to sign everybody they need to extensions

If they extend Pesce, I wouldn't be surprised if they moved Skjei. Notice you haven't heard a word about his extension. They won't lock up both long term. Pesce is 28. Skjei is 29. We have youth coming in the next couple of years. Need to make way for some eventual transition in the middle.

Agreed but, to be honest, look at 75% of the ACGM proposals posted by fans of any team and they're all in some part triggered by some rumor heard or read from a media source - not only for specific players a media source may name but even for a generality that gets reported (i.e. "team A is looking for offense/defense/goaltending", etc). The remainder are either predominantly fans posting in favor of their team, who want to get rid of player "X", no matter how much or little it makes sense for the team they arbitrarily propose as the trade partner to take that player or drafts of ideas an ACGM is kicking around but hasn't really thought out and subsequently doesn't want feedback on.

Pick any team with a player rumored to be moved and you'll find a litany of proposals by fans of the team that player belongs to and by fans of other teams that want the player. Just the nature of the website and the open forum it allows.

I can also see both of them getting a bridge deal between them and Nikishin and Morrow if they don't want to extend both long term

Not following the Canes that closely or regularly but that does seem consistent with Dundon's M.O. from the start. There's a limit of reason for everyone - I'd guess he'd probably tell Waddell to prioritize which to keep and which to move on from. The same appears to be the case with the Carolina goalies from what reports suggest - they like both but will choose only one, likely the one that costs less.

I do believe that the vast majority of these are just 'fantasy league' proposals in nature. And if that's the point, no harm done. But for those trying to get some legit realistic notion of how the roster might shape up in reality, then you can see how this becomes a bit blown out of whack. I say good thing for each of our favorite teams, we don't make the decisions or we would all probably be fired.

Pesce will require term, but they may be forced to move Skjei. He is 29 and will not want a short term deal. I could be wrong, but really curious to see how this plays out. Always a few things no one saw coming.

That's totally fair... maybe a prospect comes out of left field that makes this whole situation moot

I think it's a situation like Weegar with Florida.

Team isn't interested giving the term he wants. Probably best for Carolina's future if they move Pesce out.
