I actually don't mind this for either team. Sharangovich is a solid middle 6 forward and is 25 years old. Toffoli is expiring contract.

It's a little light for Calgary and they could have gotten more at the deadline but they must really like Sharangovich, plus Tofolli could get hurt during the year and then his value is zero.

New Jersey gets good add to their team.

Toffoli + Sutter = Career Year
Toffoli - Sutter = 40-49 point player only finishing over 50 points twice in 10 years over 3 teams

I still love him either way
But if im giving up a 35-45 point roster player to get him
Im not giving up much in the way of picks
Its futures quality, roster quality or a mix of both
CGY chose option C

I said this before CGY fans got worked up
Firing Sutter to early got everyone thinking about Toffoli without Sutter
You trade Toffoli first and most people arent scrambling to find ways in which Sutter had a positive impact.
They dont see that unless they spent the last few months focused on it

Waiting to Trade Tofolli did more damage then good

Conny's first trade was a fleece. Not for us but a fleece none the less

They are playing a game on knife skates, shooting a very hard disc around and running into each other at mock 47. Anything can happen.

No RS
He traded for a 35-45 point player
Gave up a 10 year vet with only 2 seasons with 50+ points
Toffoli once every 5 years peaks then goes back to normal
The common link is playing for Sutter

The Russians still a kid by comparison and growing.
He could spend the next 3 seasons with over 50 points given CGY depth(assuming they keep Lindholm the rest is replacable)

I didnt ask you to define hockey
I quoted that Toffoli is as close to an Ironman as it comes
If he's Breathing he'll skate and if its bad enough he'll take a few games off.
But short of someone trying to stab him with a skate in a fist fight the history shows the odds are in his favor, not yours

For me, like I said I feel like the return is still a bit low, It's not a horrible trade, but also not a great return. it's just meh to me from a flames stand point

I get it
I thought what MTL got wasnt high enough at the time
But i was a big Toffoli guy cause he brought Suzuki into the top 6 after starting with Nate Thompson on 4th.
He also helped Caufield jump to the NHL

But even as upset as i was to lose him and his wife Cat who were a rare couple who loved MTL thriving here.
But i knew overall he wasnt a 50+ point player and more of a support player who had major impact from a leadership POV.
After about a week i realized we got a hell of a deal

The Russian Kid will hit 50 points next season and we'll be talking about how CGY stole this trade.
I know Toffoli and Cat's prefered destination is Canada as per Cat so the odds of NJD re-signing him are slim .
If Toffoli doesnt score 50+ this year they just gave up a 3rd to replace Shar's production for 1 year.

Everyone's assuming Toffoli will have the better season while i think he'll struggle with the change like he did here under Ducharme after Julien left until Caufield joined the mix in late march.
Reality is Shar's in a position to play top line beside Lindholm next year while Toffoli is looking at a middle 6 role
