$9 for 4 years seems right. so he got overpaid by 600k.

He's a 3C on 30/32 NHL teams last year... he just happened to be on one of those two teams last year

He's a great defensive C, I just think that by 28, a true 3C should probably have scored 10 goals in a season more than once.

I've been placing a $2.25 per year price tag on him during the past few months of ACGMing.

Fair, but he also wasn't really given a shot until 2022... and he excelled. He's not going to produce offence but give breaks to star players

Especially with the lack of depth on centre right now, Kampf is probably their best option unless they wanted to go with Kerf again at centre...

Which is why Treliving was exploring both Kerfoot and Kampf yesterday

I'm not disputing that he's a very useful player. But in today's NHL I think you need that offensive element from your 3C.

Too much AAV and arguably too much term, Kampf is a 4c, no reason to pay him that much, even if he's a good 4c

Again, fair point...

I was just saying that considering he wasn't really given a shot until he was behind Tavares and Matthews in the centre chart which would explain his lack of offence

Was an extremely underrated player for the Leafs. However, it's too much money for his role(likely 4C, on PK 1st unit). I was valuing him at 1.8-2.1 mil for 3-4 years.

Kampf and Rielly are the only Leafs signed for more than 3 years. I expect that will change soon.

Hope so, I'd like for this team to have more of an identity than rentals

I think a lot of people are forgetting that the cap is going to go up $88M - $89M next season. May look somewhat rough now but could be better over the years

That's hilarious when you realize he's a 3C playing 4C and is making as much as Allen/1 mill less than Armia despite being a lot more valuable then both

Which is very close to what he got... I was expecting 3-3.5 mill TBH... considering lack of centre depth and how useful he was in the playoffs

A little rich, maybe, but I have a hard time hating this deal too much, I like Kampf a lot.

Giving him money and term was a mistake. He's a great player to have, but generally teams are better off finding "the next" bottom six guy once they price themselves out. I get why they wanted him back. I even get why they threw money at him to make sure he came back this year, but the term is too much. Keep these guys hungry.
