I'm not disputing that he's a very useful player. But in today's NHL I think you need that offensive element from your 3C.
Again, fair point...
I was just saying that considering he wasn't really given a shot until he was behind Tavares and Matthews in the centre chart which would explain his lack of offence
Was an extremely underrated player for the Leafs. However, it's too much money for his role(likely 4C, on PK 1st unit). I was valuing him at 1.8-2.1 mil for 3-4 years.
I think a lot of people are forgetting that the cap is going to go up $88M - $89M next season. May look somewhat rough now but could be better over the years
Overpaying for 4th line players! Toronto got themselves Bergevin 2.0
That's hilarious when you realize he's a 3C playing 4C and is making as much as Allen/1 mill less than Armia despite being a lot more valuable then both

Which is very close to what he got... I was expecting 3-3.5 mill TBH... considering lack of centre depth and how useful he was in the playoffs
Giving him money and term was a mistake. He's a great player to have, but generally teams are better off finding "the next" bottom six guy once they price themselves out. I get why they wanted him back. I even get why they threw money at him to make sure he came back this year, but the term is too much. Keep these guys hungry.
