If he play top 4 than this is good. If he plays bottom pair, this is bad

Could be good potentially. He’s good enough to be a low end 2nd pairing defenseman but most importantly an upgrade on what they already have and they can afford him being overpaid

I honestly don't know. Capfriendly currently has EJ/Clifton as the 3rd pairing.

He's likely to play 2nd pairing in buffalo, so this honestly looks like a good signing if he can play like he did in Boston.

Not sure what the Sabres plan is... they need help on the rightside...but with Lybushkin, Jokiharju, Bryson and now both Eric Johnson and Clifton....whose going to play? None of those are top pairing right side, and most are best suited on the bottom pairing. Clifton on your 2nd pairing ...isnt great, mediocre at best. This seems to be about 1mil more than I wouldve thought he could demand.
There are lots of good players out there getting cheap deals today....this is not one of them. Early contender for overpay of the day.

Clifton is not the player I was expecting. I hope he can step up and fill the #2 RHD role. I was hoping for some more size and grit physically with a longer term proven track record but he plays that way. After a bit more research this may be a good signing. This isn’t a slam dunk based on resume but yet again GMKA and the Sabres rolling the dice on something not yet seen. Trust the Process I guess.

One of my relatives who is a Bruins fan texted me that this was an overpay. All I needed to vote no on whether it was a good signing or not.

Honestly based on all these deals for Gudas, Schenn, Holl, Cole etc..

Clifton probably was the guy I liked the most. Has some real promise. Not bad.

Agreed, I wanted him in Colorado but we couldn't swing that type of AAV.

They are lining up their D-pairs like the way Tampa Bay did (when they had Hedman-McDonagh-Sergachev) with 3 studs anchoring the left side and a rotating group on the right side to see who fits and based on matchups.

Well this makes me happy as a Bruins fan, never cared for him and was really hoping he wouldn't be on my team this year. He's a bit of an air head, and a penalty magnet.

Heh. Well that doesn't mean a thing. I suppose it is possible, though. I just automatically assumed they'd be trading an RD and Jokiharju has more value than Lyubie.
