Dude played top pairing minutes last year and was "meh". Still a good top 4 defender and only getting better.

Shat! I was at least hoping the lack of signings meant that Byram would get a long term deal. If he is getting this, why not get an actual top 6 forward?

I think COL hoped for a 3rd year at that price, but Byram is fantastic and I think he'll instantly live up to it.

Compared to their last singing a homerun, very good deal.

Salary cap …

Drouin-Mac-Val
Lehky-Johansen-Mikko
Woods-Colton-O’Connor

I personally like that top 9 if Drouin can bounce back and stay healthy

Same thing has been said about Drouin for years, no? I really thought that going cheap on Wood and Drouin would mean a 6x6 type deal for Byram. That would pay dividends down the line.

Good bridge deal for a kid who looks like he's guaranteed to be a top-4 defensemen for a long time.

Wouldn’t a 3rd year walk him to UFA?

EDIT: I am wrong lol

That's great value. It's a bridge deal though, so next contract could bite them back

You’re right, he has 2 more RFA years.

RFA rules will forever baffle me lol

COLORADO CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS!!!!

Meanwhile, Minnesota is struggling to find enough cap space to fill a roster while Colorado manages to convince a division rival to gift them a top 6 center w/ half retention, acquire a '23 1st + '23 2nd + a prospect for Newhook, and now convince an elite defensemen to sign a bridge deal when guys w/ half his production are getting signed to 8 year, top $$$ extensions.
