Just as a heads up because I'm not 100% sure it's conveyed up there, but you're asking CHI to eat $16M in cash on dumps/retention.

As a comp...it cost a 2nd round pick to dump $2.3M onto the Hawks. That is how much CHI will have to pay Bailey.

Wonder how Stars fans will feel, but a Marchment/Petry type deal could be interesting.

EDIT: Just saw Dallas' cap space, and it might be hard to make it work.

Not necessarily, they move Faksa likely either way and that then makes this deal possible but I don’t think it would look like what this guy had. Prob would be Marchment for Petry and we add a third or smth

It’s funny how many people post proposals without seeming to consider the actual $$ cost to the organization they are dumping contracts on, they seem to think cap hit is all that matters. Most rich people didn’t become wealthy without caring about money, they are going to want value for the $$ they spend.

Hawks pass...fairly easily. Granlund is of zero interest without a significant sweetener....at least a 2nd and probably need a 3rd or 4th with that 2nd. Retaining 8 million on EK is getting into the 1st and a 2nd range. While Joseph is a nice prospect (but I don't see his upside as much more than a #4/5), the Hawks are bursting at the gills with LHD prospects and having one as a key piece in the magnitude of this financial commitment is a terrible fit. The value is probably not THAT far off, but you would need to replace Joseph with another 1st, Yager. or involve a third team where you flip Joseph for a similar RHD/C.

    Counteroffer....Hawks retain 2X4 (8 million) on EK + Colin Blackwell for Granlund, '25 1st, '26 1st, & '27 2nd.

Hawks would decline that deal as proposed. Not that it matters because SJ doesn't accept to start with, so the Hawks trade never happens.

No thanks from Dallas, at that cap hit no way, almost double Suter and he’s not he’s not that much better and his decline could catch up with Suter this year. He would just be another veteran taking up PP time and blocking development of Harley and Lundkvist and giving minimal effort.

Stars should stand pat until the trade deadline and just see if Lundkvist can get his defensive play to an acceptable level and him or Harley will run PP2.
