It's kinda funny they toss in 2.4 mil retention as if that's the holdup with the Lindholm to CBJ deals

Probably the most realistic package for Hanifin to Buffalo that I've seen - but I still have a feeling that, with their prospect pool deeper at center than wing, Buffalo would want to swap Ostlund for Rosen. Otherwise, the deal seems fair from Buffalo POV but I suspect not all Flames' fans will think that's enough when a 1st isn't part of the package.

This is at least a REASONABLE trade with the Sabres
Your fellow Flames fans have been posting some crazy ****

Still seems like a bit much to me,
but it’s not over the top like I’ve been seeing

I don’t think this trade gets done though
Buffalo called CGY about Hanafin & they wanted too much,
so we went & signed 2 defensemen on July1

If the Flames were willing to accept something in this neighborhood, a deal would probably be done already
But even if the Flames do lower their asking price,
at this point we may have already moved on

Again though,
this is actually a package that looks to be in the ballpark of possible
Nice job

Trades are pretty reasonable for both sides (and its hard to get people to agree on here). One potential issue with the Columbus trade could be Kuraly who has 10 team no trade list. He is from Columbus and there is a good chance he has all of the Canadian teams on his list.

Overall - I like the injection of youth in the line up. But why is Dube on LTIR (LOL)? Dube would definitely be in the line up and the Flames are talking about a contract extension with him at present.

I agree. Calgary will likely sit until the dominoes fall and some teams lose defensemen in the first half of the season.

That may be
But it’ll still likely be hard to get the package they seem to be looking for
They must be asking for a ton, or Hanifin would’ve been traded already

The lack of cap space is for sure an issue. For once, I'd just like this team to sell at the deadline and actually acquire assets.

Seems like CGY always waits too long to do that though
I remember them holding onto Iginla forever,
just to have 1st round exit after 1st round exit
To be fair, that not JUST Calgary
Most teams wait too long

OTT is not in a position to give up a 1st round pick for 2 rental players that put them in a tougher spot (cap wise) to sign Pinto.
With a core that has no NHL playoff experience and no knowledge yet of how Korpisalo will look this season, OTT shouldn't be "going all in" just yet.

In preparation of a lineup without him in case of a suspension if he was in the events of teams Canada

I love Backlund and would have liked to have him during his prime but the guy is 34... you don't sacrifice Brannstrom or the 1st for that

Zadorov is also UFA-to-be and as a LHD is not needed at all. They also have a better version currently in development

I wouldn't trade any of Brannstrom or the 1st for both

I would trade Brannstrom for Backlund if he comes with a 2 years extension at a very reasonable cap hit.

Depends on how far you were able to draw the perspective... Ottawa would give up MORE than they got for DeBrincat for 2 UFA-to-be players that they don't even need (although Backlund yes depending on who plays wing because zero need at Center)

That regime who held onto Iginla too long is far different, and they actually inherited late-career Iggy…not comparable situations is what most Flames fans would say. Hanifin just told them he wanted to leave (well supposedly if the insiders are right)

All the trades are too favourable for Flames so doubt the other teams would so the trades but I would like it as Flames fan
