Lol Nylander has just as many 40 goal seasons as Lindholm. And unlike Lindholm Nylander is a defensive liability. Not to mention Lindholm plays the far more valuable position

Ask yourself would you trade Matthews for Jason Robertson? Robertson had 25 more points last year

As a pending UFA and a winger he's not going to be a massively coveted commodity. WSH would only add Nylander to compliment their current offense, in which case they certainly need to keep Wilson. EDM has just signed Hyman for a long-term deal at great value compared to his performance. FLA moving Lundell+ for a pending UFA is terrible asset management and CGY has no reason to add a 1st rounder in that trade.

Bottom line is these trades won't make the other teams any better in the long run, and is bound to hurt them more than benefit. WSH is probably the only exception in this due to Wilson's injury history.

Lindholm is actually a better player than Nylander. He also scored 40 goals two years ago, but especially is an exceptional all-around CENTRE with consistency and great DEFENSIVE skills. Sure, Nylander may get you more points but that is only one of many key attributes needed in a player. And Lindholm is going to COST LESS on a new contract...

Specifically because of your(Toronto's) love affair with Nylander is exactly why that trade will almost assuredly never happen.

They really don’t. It has nothing to do with player value. The Capitals aren’t going to trade a guy that plays like he cares on every shift for a guy that cares only about himself. The Capitals are not going to trade Tom Wilson and they’re also not going to trade for Nylander so that they can give him the $10M extension he is requesting. Nothing about Nylander is a fit for the Capitals.
