Pesce and Lafreniere arrive

Created by: Real_MC_Hockey
Team: 2023-24 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 17, 2023
Published: Jul. 17, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
All trades make sense, yes Carolina one works and fair for both teams as both players not re-signing with current teams. Here comes Canes fans saying Pesce is a modern-day Bobby Orr…and NYR fans say Lafreniere is worth the same as McDavid.

Once again, Anaheims not interested in Vladar, and Vladar is worth at most a 5th, see the Hill trade as a direct comparable.

Canes decline. Pesce > Hanifin, Calgary need to add, not Carolina

Not saying Laf is worth McDavid, but he is worth more than that. Also, how do you suppose the cap works for NY?

Drury says no chance. Coleman has negative value and a mid 1st + late 2nd on top of that won't cut it.

I just have one question: why do the Canes even consider that? I mean, for LD alone, they already have Slavin, Orlov, and Skjei, and Pesce and Chatfield are no slouches on their off side either. Would love to see Hanny back in a Canes jersey, but there is no reason for the Canes to make that move.

So goodrow winning 2 cups with Tampa doesn’t count? Lmao

And they both have the same amount of points in the last 2 years except goodrow is cheaper lmao

Right, ok then…. thanks for backing that up with all that data and good information (oh, wait it’s purely an uneducated opinion of an Eastern based guy who never watches Hanifin or reads anything much about hockey), it’s just not true. Hanifin is a 5th overall, he is young but very experienced, large, skates far better than Pesce, scores consistently unlike Pesce, plays defense well, and hits. So nah….definitely Hanifin is better. Yes check the numbers, this works for NYR.

So that’s why they signed Dostal who can be sent to minors without waivers right? Know the contract status of your own players….they would welcome Vladar should they come to a fair trade to have some real experience

Rangers are trying to shed cap not add. Rangers might consider the trade if Coleman wasn't included....well the Flames don't have teh cap for that either.

Points do not mean everything but yes, I forgot about Goodrow winning a Cup, he’s just so non-impactful overall…bad signing by NYR

They also don’t have Lafreniere signed so that would cost a similar amount to Coleman. He could be a bust so this trade may work well for NYR, who knows?

Lol what a troll. Enjoy that $4.9m with Coleman which is way worse than $3.6m for goodrow

Understand how contracts work maybe? The fact that he signed a two way deal doesn't make him waivers exempt, it just means we don't have to pay him 850k to play in the AHL. Him being waivers exempt is a result of the number of "seasons" he has played in the NHL and has nothing to do with signing a one way or two way contract.

And he's still only worth a 5th. If we want a goalie with experience, Stalock is still available in UFA, and at least he's experienced at putting up decent numbers despite getting shelled.

Laffy is gonna sign for like $2.5m while being better than Coleman lol

If he’s such a bust, then why are you trading for him?

Notice how much better Hill was at the time of his trade? Other than on ice performance, their stories are practically identical. Mid 20s backup goalie making ~2 mil AAV on a team where they are excess goods. Difference is Hill was never actually that bad. Vladar laid an egg this season, but he doesn't have the body of work at the NHL level to show he deserves to stick around.

The Rangers have $2.3m without Laf signed....how does adding $4.9m add up there? Simply run with no extras??

WRONG…never said it was 2-way deal because it’s not….the little green arrow beside his name (on Anaheim capfriendly page) shows he is waivers exempt as I said…so you do the leaning how contracts work as you got it wrong.

Ask media or NHL people, Coleman costs more but also worth more so it balances out….
