Getting Petry for 2 years at 2.34 Million would be a steal. Honestly wonder what kind of Package we could get. Queue the Petry for 1st + all over again lol

I'm being roasted on another website for saying Petry isn't worth a 1st at 2.34 lol, they're setting themselves up for disappointment again when Petry gets moved, Petry's decent but like a 1st for an aging declining Petry, even if he's paid not much money is an extremely high asking price

1 point for Dubas. He did the thing.

That team will sell tons of tickets, has a shot at contention.

One of, if not both Letang or Karlsson will be able to abuse the opposition many nights.

And if it fails you can’t say that he didn’t give the core the best chance. Age happens.

Paul Coffey flashbacks.

Honestly we could see another Edmundson like trade where we offload him for cheaper now just to play the young guys. There's 0% chance Barron starts the year in the NHL unless we trade Petry or something else. Might be more beneficial to just play the young guys.

I'd be fine with that, I think Petry at 2.34x2 returns us like a 3rd and people are saying that's an underestimation but I struggle to see how

This will be the Penguins in a year or 2 from now.

I’m the only one not doing cartwheels. It’s August and fans are bored. In march it’ll be a miracle if both Tanger and EK are off IR.

BLUE CROSS / GEICO are the PIT winners in this deal as they'll be making a killing off the "health" [cough-cough] premiums...Help

Coyotes have a decent chance at making the playoffs next season. Cooley will likely be an immediate top 6 caliber center, the top 6 is above average. Above average goaltending and the defense has no liabilities and a ton of potential

Their roster is full of “ifs”

Likely a bottom 10 team unless EVERYBODY performs

Coyotes can pretty much let their offense play out over the next few years and it should be good enough to be a contending level offense.

Maccelli, Keller are high end wingers. Cooley looks like he’ll be.superstar 1C . Hayton well on his way to being a solid 2C. Guenther has 40 goal potential.

They need more quality on defense. Over the next few years the goal should be to use assets and pry a mid 20s defenseman from a team who can’t afford a long term deal. Dobson, Bouchard are examples.

I’m aware of their age. I think they though as a team they have 1 or 2 more solid seasons before they fall off a cliff.

A Penguins writer for THW has an opinion article of the teams 5 worst contracts. I think it was written 3 days ago.

Today 4 of those 5 were traded.

That writer is happy.

They spent a 1st and a 2nd to upgrade for one bad contract that's longer than the other ones.

Maybe, but many young top draft picks have had pretty shaky rookie seasons. He could be Beniers, he could be Slafkovsky

If the PENS could get a solid 30-days in Oct-Nov before the "players" are all in an old age home they'd be ecstatic!

I’m on my own island but I agree with you. It’s Dubas is a genius and no one can criticize him season.

The difference is slafkovsky never dominated a league - cooley is a few tiers above slafkovsky.

Guys that dominate college in their D+1 usually have immediate success in the nhl.

The offseason is back to being boring again, so I figured I'd try and give people the opportunity to brag about the NHL players they have met. Here is my resume:

- Claude Giroux in Hearst, Ontario
- Chris Simon in Longlac, Ontario (Funnily enough, he ran a hockey school about anti-bullying)

Some honorable mentions:
- Ryan Graves' dad (Works for a local mine)
- Tyler Tucker's aunt (She taught me math)

Any cool NHL player stories on the forum?

I'm a distant cousin to Jacques Lemaire although I've never met him, only my grandmother has. My brothers played hockey with/against Briere, Leclair, and Primeau's kids.

Also Patrick Sharp and Simon Gagne gave us pucks at a Flyers carnival when I was really young

I’ve met
Mike Bossy
Mathieu Dandenault
Sean Monahan (and many other Ottawa 67’s players but I forget if there’s any other notables names other than Monahan)
